Right after the excitement of Zerotohundred‘s very own TTA#3, we headed back to Sepang, having been invited by Audi for their Driving Experience 2012. The event spanned four days with participation strictly invite-only, spread between Audi’s customers and select members of the media. And laid out on track for us to test were some of Ingolstadt’s finest: a fleet of S6, S7, and S8 along with an R8GT, R8GT Spider and TT-RS pace cars.
Men will always try to push the capabilities of the four-wheeled machine up to its highest limits. In our own home turf, we have the dedicated racers in GT cars running for 12 hours in the Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race, and of course over in the French countryside, the ever famous 24-Hour of Le Mans pitting the top contenders for one whole day non-stop. But some still think that 24 hours does not really pose that much of a challenge; and for that, they had come up with a much tougher and longer Maxi Endurance 48 Hour Race.
Although they might not have a wide and diverse lineup, McLaren’s creations will always captivate and astonish the automotive world. The McLaren F1 is purely a speed machine that still wows today’s generation, and the MP4-12C is quickly rising above the ranks to be the best performing supercar there is. And with the P1 concept recently shown to the world at the Paris Motor Show, we are one step closer in actually having it rocking the automotive world as the production version of this new hypercar was recently unveiled at a private event in New York.
The one-make racing series quickly gaining its popularity around the world. We have seen Europe getting its new one-make rally with the new Adam compact car, and Australia trying to do the same thing with HSV revealing a Commodore-based race car. And now, Nissan has recently announced that they are starting their own one-make racing series for their 370Z Nismo sports car.
If you are not familiar to the world of Formula One, then you might have seen his face testing out the new Proton Preve. Yes, he is the famous Formula One legend Jean Alesi. The Frenchman basked in the fame of the high-speed motorsport back in the 1989-2001 period where his career was in its peak, racing for a number of famous names like Jordan, Prost, Tyrell, Benetton, Sauber, and even Ferrari. And after spending most of his life living on the fast lane, he finally decides to pull down the curtains on his racing career.
The world waited for a long, long time for Lexus’ first supercar to hit the streets. Of course, they took their own sweet time in creating this impressive feat of engineering, and the result was totally worth the wait. The Lexus LFA is widely known for its hair-raising howl coming out from its V10 engine, and is regarded by many as the best-sounding supercar ever. And after two years of production, the Toyota Motomachi plant in Japan finally rolls out the 500th or final unit of the LFA.
Forging a strong partnership with Subaru’s manufacturer Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd, Motor Image has reached a major milestone with the first locally-assembled Subaru XV rolling out from the Segambut plant’s production line. As a subsidiary of Tan Chong International Limited, Motor Image’s bold step did not only strengthen the group’s presence in Malaysia, but also in the Southeast Asian region.
On events like TIMETOATTACK, the action and eye-candies does not necessarily have to be at the pits or the circuit itself. Actually if you are brave enough to fight or ignore the heat, you could actually find some great gems sitting idly at the parking lot. Don’t believe me? With cars like Evonne being just a stone throw’s away from the 2:25 mark earlier on, the car that we might see grabbing the fastest time on TIMETOATTACK could possibly be another one of these monsters.
