Default Goodyear Asy 3 for VR

Have been waiting for the Goodyear Asy 3 for the past year. Launch in EU in 2016, hoping for it to be here late last year but until now still not launched. Heard that many sizes have yet to arrive including my VR size of 215/45R17. In the end cannot wait anymore so went for 225/45R17 which was available.

VR first use Goodyear way back in 2004 (really long time ago) and that was the Goodyear F1 Directional GS-D3, then the replacement Goodyear First Asymmetric in around 2008/9, then the Asy 2 in 2011. You can read on the Asy 2 here ( http://autoworld.com.my/forum/index....agle-f1-asy-2/ ) I am not sure if I posted in ZTH those days, so have to read my post in AW forum.

Fitted my Asy 3 at Quicksave, USJ.

Not too much changed in the pattern, probably fine tuned and with new rubber compound

Sidewall design almost identical....lol

Asy 3 wording small and tiny

This 225/45R17 still Made in Germany

UTQG of Asy 3 the same as Asy 2
Thread wear 300
Traction AA
Temperature A

Ply rating also same as Asy 2, Sidewall only 1 Polyester ply and Thread area 4 plies only (1 polyester, 2 steel, 1 polyamide)

Since these tyres from EU, mine had EU labeling. Fuel efficiency C which is good for Max Performance tyres. Wet Handling is A, which is the highest rating and for Noise/Sound at 61dB which is also very quiet for a performance tyre

The Asy3 is said to be even lighter, but this round did not weigh it as I was using a difference tyre size.
Initial feel is smooth and quiet even though having super hard suspension and noisy exhaust....lol
The better ride should be due to the 1 ply sidewall, however even though is not so bumpy they are not soft. To me is a nice balance between comfort and performance.
The feel can be said like the Asy 2, so now bores down to it's performance and handling in wet and dry. Let me test further......

Yup, back to F1 3rd Gen.

Land Golden short term as HPY was crumbling, now just in time transfer to Hyundai as the Asy2 on Hyundai now bald and harden too.
Cherry SUV tyres much bigger...235/60R16....

So how much did you buy?
Why didn't you try the Fleva? But I suppose this should be better than the Fleva and easy to rotate.

Looks like this is not for my car even if I want to change wheels.

Your Wira just stay 15, best fit for that size and engine power. Then just buy either PS3, F1D5, Fleva, V12E2, or RE003.

225/45R17 is RM600, that why I have been using 215/45R17 all this while......lol

Fleva V701 is below V105, and V105 in test below Asy3.....

Yeah, 15" is the best for my car and engine. Actually if 14" still have performance tyres, I won't even think of changing. Last time during 90s, Mirage Cyborg R with 4G92 MIVEC also use 195/60/14 as stock tyre. If I am not mistaken, Lancer GSR with 4G93T also use 14". If they are good enough for engines over 150hp, they should be good enough for my 90hp.

Thinking of saving up to buy some nice ori Japan wheels either Enkei or Volk. Also thought that if they are lightweight, maybe can go for 16" considering that manufacturers are moving up to 16" as starting point for performance tyres.

Those days don't have ultra low profile tyres mah! My super saloon stock tyres was 195/70R14, VR I think 205/60R15 only. Where got 30 series like now......lol
14" used to have some extreme tyres but that also no more.....
