What's Malaysia's best selling, non-national car? It's Honda of course. Having sold over 109,511 cars in 2017 alone, it is also a substantial increase in sales by 19% compared to the year before. If you didn't already know, no other non-national car brand has sold over a hundred thousand cars, ever. 2017 has been real nice to Honda Malaysia, endowing them with the massive sales record.

By Region

The Central region contributed the highest percentage of sales at 47%, followed by Southern region and Northern region. The overall sales for 2017 increased by 19% compared to the 91,830 units recorded in year 2016.

MD & CEO MR Toichi Ishiyama

Speaking on the outstanding sales record year, Honda Malaysia MD and CEO, Mr. Toichi Ishiyama said,

“The year 2017 truly was remarkable for Honda Malaysia. At the beginning of 2017, we challenged ourselves with a sales target of 100,000 units and in March 2017, we achieved a historical milestone with the 600,000th unit (CKD) production within the span of 14 years since Honda Malaysia started in 2003. At the end of 2017, based on internal data our market share was at 19%, an increase of 3.2 points from 2016. For the first time ever, we surpassed the 100,000 units sales achievement within a calendar year. We continue to maintain our No. 1 position for Non-National segment and No. 2 position in overall TIV of the automotive industry.”

“On behalf of Honda Malaysia, I would like to extend our sincerest appreciation and thankfulness to all Honda Malaysia customers for their faith and belief in our brand and for making Honda their vehicle of choice. This achievement would not have been possible without our valued customers as well as strong support from our business partners and the Malaysian government,” added Mr. Ishiyama.

I think they deserve it, while stories of their after sales service is less than stellar, at the very least their PRICING and PACKAGING of the products, which incorporates advanced safety features at an attainable price point pushes the boundaries in Malaysia -- which forces other *cough* Toyota *cough* local distributors to [strike]stop ripping off customers[/strike] offer better value for money.

Their safety features vs price point beats even the Kimchis. Kudos Honda, please keep it up.

Could be the market has smarten up these few years. Can see the figure rises year after year.

Smarten in sense that the market is making the most out of the vehicle price. Why buy T brand when can have H brand at similar price with better tech and safety. Adding bodykit alone wont justify the price tag.

K-pop need to up their tempo a little and they will out dance T in no time.

Toyota still rules the resale values though. Honda still can't beat them.

But I'd prefer a Civic over an Altis anyday. And the S660 has no equivalent in any other brand. Long live Honda?

Resale value to me is market peeception.
In MY perception comes above real life data.

Was a Honda supporter for many years. 1st Gen Civic, 1st Gen 3 Door Accord, 3rd Gen 4 Door Accord, then almost owned the SM4 but resale value for 2nd hand was too high so switch to Mitsubishi and that was how VR came about.....hhahahhahaha
