I've just renewed my AE92 road tax yesterday. As everybody knows, AE92 owner will have to pay RM90.00 for the road tax (1.6L). But what making me feel frustrated is the insurance companies.

Most insurance companies do not accept third party coverage for any vehicle aged more than 20 years
Only a few still have the pity on us, old rusty car owner. But they have the chance to cekik darah too... I have to pay for the 'loading'....etc, etc and end up with RM300++ just for may third party insurance.

If anybody know, what does 'loading' do good for you? What for? Last year I only have to pay RM170 something but yesterday I paid more than double.... Which company accept third party?
Can I still get first party insurance for my beloved AE92 even if it aged more than 20 years?

I heard there is a move from insurance companies to ban old cars from roaming Malaysian road because they cant make profits by providing insurance to these rusty machines... because they said that if any old car involve in an accident, they have to pay the price of repair like a new car and that old car get new part even though the broken part are already old.

I think that is absurd because old car parts is not expensive as new car's. For example, I can get a pair of Ford Escort absorbers only for RM120. Its new but old stock! Original from Belgium! An AE92 complete nosecut only cost around RM800. Unlike my friends MyVi, his accident repair cost him RM12,000. What kind of repair is that? The shop only replace one door, one bumper, right side front fender and one headlamp. My other friend accident cost him RM4000 for his Kelisa repair.

Its not fair comparing my AE92 to new cars. My spare parts are plentiful in halfcut shops....

totally agreed with u friend. i too went for a quote for a 1st party insurance at an agent today n my 1992 civic has been added a 15% loading. and hav to pay an extra than last year's premium. the reason they gave was, CIMBaviva (previous insurer) is no longer in operation, thus other company is charging that 15% now onwards..n another thing is, I cant make a 3rd party insurance for my car...dunno starting when, coz as i remember somewhere in March this year, I helped a friend on buying a 3rd party insurance for a year 1995 proton wira and there was no problem at all. but just now the agent told me only cars made in the 80s are applicable for this 3rd party insurance (all this came from the same agent i sought for motor insurance) ..I'm so confused now..:hmmmm::banghead:
