Engine

The new Colorado comes with 2 engine options for the 5 variants. The 2.5-litre FGT (Fixed Geometry Turbo) powers the 2.5 LT (auto and manual) and 2.5 LTZ while the more powerful 2.8-litre VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo) powers the 2.8 LTZ and 2.8 High Country.

Power output from the 2.5-litre engine ranges from 163hp to 180hp and 380Nm to 440Nm of torque, depending on the variants. Meanwhile, the 2.8-litre produces 193hp and 500Nm of torque, outnumbering the torque figure of its rivals.

The 6-speed manual transmission can only be paired to the 2.5 LT variant, while the rest of the variants are equipped with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with Manual Mode Function.

Exterior

External design of the new Colorado sees some changes where the truck gets redesigned headlights with tube-type DRLs. The front bumper is also new, along with reshaped outer clusters that house the front fog lights.

The 2.5 LT wears 16-inch alloy wheels, while the 2.5 LTZ, 2.8 LTZ and 2.8 High Country gets 18-inch alloys. However, the alloy wheels on the range-topping High Country is a 2-tone-finished.

Interior

In the cabin, the new Colorado gets new dashboard design, with air-cond and centre console arrangement inspired by USA market's Colorado. The chrome finishing around the air-cond vents near the centre console gives a premium look to the cabin.

The interior door panels get nice soft touch elements, and there are chrome bars with ‘High Country’ lettering on the upper part. The front doors of the Colorado also feature Comfort Closing Windows where the glass is lowered down by a fraction when the door is opened to aid in eliminating vacuum in the cabin.

The instrument cluster has been redesigned, and comes with a new multi-info screen, displaying digital speedometer, maintenance intervals and oil life cycle. Being the first pickup truck in the segment to come with Apple CarPlay application, it enables the passengers to project a simplified version of their smartphone display into Colorado’s colour touchscreen.

Safety

The all-new Colorado received a host of active and passive safety features namely Traction Control System (TCS), Panic Brake Assist (PBA), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Descent Control (HDC) and Hill Start Assist (HSA). All these features are depending on variants, and in addition to the 2 front airbags, along with a driver’s knee airbag.

Elsewhere, the Chevrolet Colorado is equipped with driving assists such as Lane Departure Warning System, Forward Collision Alert, Front and Rear Park Assist Sensors and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

There’s also Remote Engine Start function which is useful during hot weather when the engine can be started using key fob, allowing the cabin to be sufficiently cooled before occupants getting into the vehicle.
