What’s the deal?



BMW Malaysia has rolled out their latest addition to the F30 3-Series fleet, the 330e hybrid at BMW Innovation Days Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur today.



Equipped with a state-of-the-art electric motor working harmoniously with BMW's TwinPower Turbo engine, the 330e is the company’s second locally-assembled Hybrid vehicle with eDrive technology in the country.

Exterior



The 330e blends well with the rest of the 3-Series range, with subtle appearance changes that is unique to it. Retaining the identity of an iconic sedan, the hybrid 330e can be distinguished from the charging socket panel positioned on the left front fender of the car and the familiar ‘eDrive’ badge on both sides of the vehicle’s flanks.



The 330e gets the 18-inch V-spoke light alloy wheels with mixed tyre sizes and comes in 4 exterior colours – Black Sapphire, Mineral Grey, Mediterranean Blue and Alpine White.

Interior



Familiar identity of the F30 3-Series is seen in the cabin as well. Offered as standard to the car are leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel, Head-Up Display, rear-view camera, electric Glass Roof and Leather Dakota Black upholstery.



The 330e also gets a wealth of innovative BMW ConnectedDrive features like Navigation System Professional, Parking Assistant function, Intelligent Emergency Call, Concierge Services, BMW Teleservices and MyBMW Remote App.



Also present is the BMW Online Office which enable the occupants to read, write and send emails from within the vehicle.

Drivetrain



The 330e features an innovative hybrid powertrain comprising of a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mill with its signature BMW TwinPower Turbo configuration and then comes the pièce de résistance, a synchronous BMW eDrive electric motor. Output figures read at 248 horses and 420Nm of torque, capable of catapulting the 330e from stationary to 100km/h in 6.1 seconds, up to a top speed of 225km/h.



Despite the outstanding performance, its combined (and claimed) fuel consumption remain at a lowly 2.1L/100km. Power output is sent to the rear axles through an 8-speed automatic transmission with Steptronic.



The vehicle driving set-up can be configured from two main controls; eDrive button and Driving Experience Control switch.

  • eDrive button – available in AUTO eDRIVE, MAX eDRIVE, and SAVE BATTERY. The button manages characteristics of the combustion engine and the electric motor depending on driver’s desired intention; to let the system manage itself, to maximize electric drive system, or to conserve energy.
  • Driving Experience Control switch – the switch enables the driver to tailor steering, chassis and gearshift functions through 3 different modes; Comfort, Sport and Eco Pro.
Charging



The high-voltage battery of the new 330e offers a gross energy capacity of 7.6 kWh and can be recharged from any domestic power socket, which will take about 5 hours for a full charge. Charging using BMW Wallabox Pro however reduces the charging time to 3.5 hours.



As part of BMW 360° ELECTRIC, customers are offered the ChargeNow service with a ChargeNow card that will grant straightforward access to charging stations like ChargEV. The ChargEV offering is part of BMW Group Malaysia’s partnership with Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (Green Tech Malaysia).

The new BMW 330e hybrid comes with a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty and a 6-year warranty package for the high-voltage battery.
