What's the deal?



With sightings of new generation 5-Series mule spied testing over the last few months, BMW quickly released the M5 Competition Edition to celebrate its production life of the current F10-generation.

Both power and torque sees increment, making the supersedan more potent than ever. Chassis has also been revised to ensure additional output is put effectively.

Exterior




The Competition Edition M5 retains unmistakable look of a pure sports sedan and it is further emphasized with BMW M Performance Parts - rear spoiler, rear diffuser, mirror caps all manufactured from carbon-fibre, gloss black kidney grille and 'M5 Competition' logo on the famous side 'gills'.

Other equipment include Adaptive LED headlights, Reversing Assist camera, powered bootlid operation, Comfort Access and sun protection glass. It can also be distinguished by a set of Jet Black-finished 20-inch M Double-spoke 601M alloy wheels. Two colours are available; Carbon Black and Mineral White.

Interior




The interior of BMW M5 Competition Edition benefits from full Black Merino leather upholstery with Opal White contrast stitching. The same white colour is also used for the 'M5' logo that appears on the head restraints of the M Sport multi-function seats.

There's also the M Performance interior trim in carbon finish with 'M5 Competition' logo along with unique '1/200' designation that accentuate the exclusivity of the car.

Engine




While retaining components like M TwinPower Turbo technology, VALVETRONIC variable valve control and cross-bank exhaust manifold of the standard car, the Competition Edition runs on more boost, thanks to its re-calibrated ECU.

Power is now at 600hp, 40 horses more than the standard car while the peak torque of the V8 rises from 680Nm to 700Nm. These increment result in 0.5 seconds quicker from Zerotohundred sprint, at 3.9 seconds. Top speed is electronically-limited to 250km/h.

With the inclusion of Brake Energy Regeneration, Auto Start-Stop function and its extreme performance, the CO2 emissions remain at a lowly 231g/km.

Chassis




The sporting qualities of the M5 Competition Edition on the chassis department has been revised as well to compensate the power upgrade. It consists of stiffer springs and electronically-controlled dampers, along with thicker anti-roll bars.

The limited-slip differential is electronically-controlled by a multi-plate Active M system, which rapidly and precisely control wheelspin and keep the car planted. Three control settings to choose from: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus.
Stopping power comes from the six-piston M Sport calipers.

Only 200 units of the M5 Competition Edition will be available worldwide.
