Bermaz Motor just launched the highly anticipated Mazda6 SkyActiv D, an exciting oil-burning sedan, spurred by huge success achieved by Mazda Japan on their diesel-powered models.

What's the deal?

The new Mazda6 SkyActiv-D comes with Mazda's super-efficient and environmentally-friendly diesel engines that comply strict emission regulations including the Euro6. The new car is also a milestone for Mazda as they are the only Japanese manufacturer to offer diesel sedans in Malaysia for now.

Mazda6 SkyActiv-D

2.2-litre 4-cylinder DOHC

Torque: 420Nm at 2,000 rpm
Zerotohundred: n/a

Weight from: 1,525kg

Exterior

The Mazda6 expresses Mazda's design principle, 'KODO - soul of motion' that harmoniously captures the impression of speed, tension and allure. Not much difference can be told from the rest of the lineup apart from the 'SkyActiv D' badge that indicates engine type.

The car gets full LED DRLs, headlights (with auto-levelling function), fog lights and rear combination taillights. 225/45 tyres wraps lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels.

4 colour options available: Soul Red Metallic, Snowflake White Pearl, Meteor Grey and Sonic Silver Metallic.

Interior

Inside, the Mazda6 SkyActiv-D is almost indistinguishable from the range-topping 2.5-litre petrol unit.

Equipment like Mazda Active Driving Display (heads-up display), engine start/stop button, electronic integrated cruise control, dual-zone climate control air-conds, auto-dimming rear view mirror and adjustable steering with tilt and telescopic function are all available here.

Engine

The SkyActiv-D features two-stage turbochargers for smooth and linear response from low to high end engine revs, greatly improving torque across the rev range. The system also offers responsiveness at low rev and maintains power at high rev.

The reduced compression ratio at 14.0:1 is high for petrol engines, but comparatively very low for diesel engines, thus allowing for lightweight engine construction. The aluminium cylinder block, lighter cylinder walls and pistons, all combine to contribute dramatic reduction in friction and fuel consumption.

Mazda also resolved typical problems in conventional diesel engines such as dreaded misfiring and poor fuel consumption during cold starts. Mazda counters this with variable valve lift (VVL) on the exhaust valves and high precision multi-hole piezo injectors for variable injection patterns; resulting in controlled combustion temperature which improves cold start.

Power output is rated at 173hp while torque is at 420Nm; the twisting power similar to V8 naturally-aspirated engine.

Infotainment

The CBU Mazda6 arrives complete with 7-inch full colour touch screen display MZD Connect unit, Bluetooth hands-free, multi-function commander control, GPS with 3D and 2D modes, integrated audio control on steering wheel with phone connectivity, 2 USB-audio input ports (iPod compatible) and a BOSE surround sound system.

Safety

The car's capability is governed by safety equipments like 6 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Brake Assist (EBA), Traction Control System (TCS) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC).

In addition, the Mazda6 gets driving assists comprises of Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS).

The car scores a full 5-star for Euro NCAP.

During the press conference, Berjaya Auto CEO stated that the use of B10 biodiesel could void the warranty. And although the car can be fueled by Euro2M, it is 'advisable' to fuel the car with Euro 5 diesel.

Hi guys, currently I'm looking at a 2015 W176 A250 with a 70K+ mileage, would like to have some opinions on the car. Any common issue or major issue in the future for this M270 engine need to look out for ? Or should I get a brand new Honda Civic 1.5 TC with the same amount of price ? Pls advice... :adore:

I know some of you would say, might as well get the A45 instead... but for me... budget is the main issue :joycat:
