I have not long ago acquired a Japanese Import 2002 Airtrek Turbo R.

I was let down badly by the import company failing to advise me about a number of additional costs/elements I needed to factor in, but I have now sorted those out.

They also handed the car over in a filthy state so I have had to get it professionally cleaned.

Mine has just 42k miles on the clock which is quite low. It's in black and is fitted with the Ralliart Sports Package which consists of upgraded front and rear bumpers. I also have Ralliart mats, not that any of these will make her faster!!! She is fitted with some nice Rays alloys and looks the part.

First thing I did was get her serviced and fitted with a new drive belt as she was running on the original one

I then fitted a replacement cooling fan sensor (common fault on Evos apparently), but pretty costly.

She had the stock Airtrek seats but I have swapped these out for full leather including door cards which I picked up in the UK, however my vehicle is a non-isofix model whereas the leather is from a UK isofix car so I have had to get a trimmer to modify the rear seat. Recaro front seats would be nice but maybe a future mod.

It also came with the original Panasonic CD/Minidisc double din unit and full TV monitor set up from 2002, but I am going to strip these out and fit a more modern double din.

I was trying to track down a Ralliart front grille, ralliart suspension, a ralliart exhaust, and the rear boot trim, but here in the UK no one knows about these cars so it's much harder to find products.

Obviously to start with I have focused on the cosmetic mods, but I would consider mechanical upgrades going forwards. I am fortunate that I am not far from an Evo specialist (Performance Autoworks in Fairford) and they have been excellent so I may discuss mods with them, but as ever it's all about how far you go. I would rather carry out some key modifications to get maximum bang for your buck and then ensure the vehicle is looking tasteful as well, rather than going for a full blown mega modded vehicle, as personally I would have probably bought an Evo wagon if I had wanted to do that, plus we want to keep her auto for my wife.

Any advice on parts would be welcomed as a search in the UK for Airtrek Turbo R parts seems pretty fruitless!!

I'll post some pics shortly.

:burnout:

What the.... Sorry, working night shift drain my concentration. Hehehe
No problem well given the situation you could have done worse!

Out of interest does anyone have any recommendations on mods for my Airtrek? Bear in mind I am in the UK so I need to keep this simple. Spoke to a garage who recommended an Evo 9 turbo unit, full de-cat exhaust with sufficient diameter, front mounted intercooler, K&N filter to replace air box, boost gauge and tune up. They are aware of the limitation due to the power that the auto box can handle over time, hence this suggestion.

I don't want to go crazy as I could throw money at this endlessly, but rather to get a decent power increase. I may also look at stiffening up the suspension and improving the brakes too.

There may be other threads on this so I will have a search as well.

Best you search back on those threads because the mod for air trek here have died down a bit. Was pretty hot a while back, some have even sold their ride......:driver:

Thank you! It's funny how it goes, we buy stuff new it becomes out of date so we sell it then give it 20yrs we end up trying to buy it again because it's vintage now. It does seem a but quiet in this section of forum.

Even my VRC club have died down. The club mechanic still does repairs but he also into 4x4 already. Many club members have switch to RVR also....

Since in England should build the mini, heard they have lots of parts still available. Even here in Malaysia there are a few places restoring them......

All those things recommended is pretty sane and I'd say budget friendly. Just be sure you get reliable and good products. Not those China copy bullshit stuff that says "1bar" when in actual fact it's 1.5bar.....

In this thread I will show how I modified 5 hole disc to 4 hole and fit it into my AE111. Since my brother left his DC5 disc at my house, I will use his disc to fit into my car.

This is tool that I use beside of the hand drill

Here is picture of original disc

Disc marked before drill...
