Thor's Hammer is back. Volvo Car Malaysia today unveiled the latest, most awaited S90 and V90, V being the wagon. These fine looking new Volvos are based on the brilliant XC90's SPA platform.
The S90 and V90 has taken a huge move up in almost every aspect including driving dynamics, design and in performance. Most obvious are its new, lower and wider stance that completely sets them apart from the competition.
There will be 2 variants offered, with the most powerful being the 320hp / 400nm T6-R Design and then a 254hp / 350nm engine for the T5.
The T6 R-design:
Blessed with a more pronounced look, the aggressive T6 R-Design S90 and V90 will be the range topper of the line up. As the more premium variant, it will also receive the Sport option which includes the more hugging Contour Seats with Side Support and cushion extension. In the T6 R-Design, its interior consists of Nubuck and perforated Nappa leather. Also special here is the R-Design Steering and gear lever.
Both the S90 and V90 will get a shopping list of tech additions. Volvo calls it the Volvo City Safety Intellisafe Package. For starters:
AEB - Automatic Emergency Braking:
The AEB system can detect and react to avoid collision with pedestrians, cyclists and large animals.
Pilot Assist:
This is Volvo's own automonous driving feature. It is not so much an auto pilot system but does assist drivers in keeping in lane via minute, automatic correction on the steering wheel while driving at up to 130kmh.
