What’s the deal?

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has recently officiated the launch of the Mercedes GLC250 4Matic at the company’s manufacturing facility in Pekan, Pahang. With the unveiling of the said SUV, MBM has set yet another milestone in Malaysia’s automotive manufacturing industry as the GLC250 is the first locally-assembled premium SUV in the country.

Made its first introduction in January this year, the GLC250 is now locally-assembled from Semi Knock-Down (SKD) before going to full Complete Knock-Down (CKD) later this year.

The GLC250 comes with AMG body styling and 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels, its sporty yet exclusive look is designed to complement the active lifestyle of its customers.

With a price tag of RM325,888, the SKD Mercedes GLC250 is three grand cheaper than its CBU equivalent.

Exterior



The GLC250 4Matic with its short front overhang, three-dimensional radiator grille and a centrally-positioned brand’s three-pointed star follows the signature design line. Headlights are striking LED Intelligent Light System unit.

The rear of the SUV is characterised by the broad, muscular shoulders and split LED tail lights featuring a distinctive night design.

Also unique to the SKD GLC250 are AMG Line exterior package with 20-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels, apart from existing features like Entry/exit lighting with logo projection, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, Mirror Package, panoramic sliding sunroof, aluminium-look running boards, EASY-PACK tailgate and Exterior Chrome Package.

Interior



The key focus for the interior is the new cabin design – dashboard and one-piece centre console with its flowing lines, performs an elegant sweep from the centre air vents to the armrest. The dashboard is also finished in open-pore black ash wood trim.

Other interior features include AMG Line interior package, illuminated door sill panels with Mercedes-Benz lettering, Interior Light Package, AMG floor mats, electrically-adjustable front seats, and a Burmester® surround sound system.
The boot capacity is rated at 580-litres, an increase by 80 to 110 litres. With the rear bench capable of 40/20/40 split folding, the GLC250 is able to contain up to 1,600 litres of luggage space.

Powertrain

Power is provided by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder twin-turbocharged unit producing 211hp and 350Nm of torque. Gearbox is a 9-speed automatic 9G-TRONIC torque converter unit and the 4Matic permanent all-wheel-drive system distributes the engine output with 33:67 percent between front and rear axles.

The GLC250 offers the DYNAMIC SELECT handling control system with 5 driving programs; Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual, which are visualised on the central media display. For off-road functions, various parameters such as incline angle, steering angle or heading are displayed in dynamic mode, in real time.

Safety



The GLC250 4Matic is equipped with a handful of cutting edge safety features such as the COLLISION PREVENT ASSIST PLUS, PRE-SAFE System, LED Intelligent Light System, Active Parking Assist and Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus.

In addition, there's also the Anti-Theft Protection Package, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Adaptive brake Lights, Kneebag and Sports suspension (unique to the SKD GLC250 AMG).
