l500 engine vs l2 engine

i'm looking forward to buy kancil converted to either l5 or l2 engine..i heard that l2 engine alwiz got problem...anyone can give me advice pro n cons regarding this 2 engine...FC....

for long term...go for l5 engine...good fc and almost no vibrate engine cos its a 4 piston engine...now parts is easy to find...

l2 vs L5? kinda old issue.... every one got pro/cons

L5- 3 cylinder
L5s - 4 cylinder
Daihatsu Mira L500 series got 2 kind of engine.

From L500S chassis got EF-RL, 3 cyl turbo... much like our kelisas but its 660cc turbo... arguably the the most torque of the lot = 104.93 Nm / 4000 rpm

From L502S/L512S got JB-JL, 4 cyl turbo... but it has a high revving nature... it's rev limit set at 8.5k rpm

if reliability is a factor, i've seen JB-JL running high boost and runs reliably for years...

if for me, I'd rather have JB-DET from L900S chassis (Move)

Problem of L2...

- engine oil cover always kong.. need to change from time to time if dun prepare to wash ur engine like monkey doing business.... heheee
- throttle body idling crazy timing also not well stable...
- high boost more worst engine like wanna drop...

last time drive boost 1 bar with ori fuelpump

Problem L5 3 piston
- wiring problem especially the alternator leg that support between engine and alternator just use stupid 1 screw at top.. can break to 2 if u boost every day.. mine break 4 time already at highway (can say like nightmare man!!! xxxxyyyyzzzzz) till modified the VR4 on in then no problem at the top but the below screw always break to 2 piece, then change to better one..hehe.. boost half way.. screw drop off...

currently boosting 1 bar with evo fuel pump...
engine not well reliable but spare parts like Kelisa even engine also looks like Kelisa...

L5 4 piston for smooth driving and long run use... (recommendation)
spare parts easily get but the price just like u are using Wira 1.6 or higher even gasket full set also cost 300 bucks but metal la.. all gasket made from metal not a single piece of paper even exhaust gasket also metal...

I have change 2 time L2 engine and also 1 time L5 3 piston engine... next year change to 4 piston.. better... chain belt less hassel no need to go garage just like working there...

Had the same dilemma in choosing which engine to plonk into my beloved kancil..... the most negative comments about L5 4cyl (JB-JL) series is that
  1. Engine can't be trashed kaw kaw.. very manja
  2. it's full of electronics....
  3. spare parts not easily available...

I choose JB-JL after I met this guy at a forum tt that tuned his JB-JL up to 220bhp on 660cc block!

p/s: the only engine that would love to have but probably will not get even I got the $$$.... JC-DET, basically a JB-DET tuned by DRC!!!

Been using L5 4 piston N/A for 3 years now,no problem.very low maintenance.just spend changing engine oil & filter.Sparks plugs still using from halfcut @ 155k km,now run up to RM225k kms.Gearbox oil change every 40k km.Some more comes with electric power steering.
