your sonata version? the newest? if your budget constrain, try a recond alternator.i've been using for a years and more.
price depends on amp size. my 90Amp is at rm150.equavalent to kedai potong quote. they gave 3 months warranty instead of 1 week at kedai potong.

shop: CM LIEW ENTERPRISE.
16,jalan 5A/6,tmn setapak indah, KL
0340210637, 40227225
they can send to ur place if in klang valley.

good luck!

(will shot new photo tomorrow)

Old Alternator

PS: Coupe member Yu have another Coupe (RD1) Alternator in his house. Those who have alternator problem, give him a buzz before you take action.

need to find way to reduce parts repair cost. Guys, agree? that's why we need to share here, I'll suggest all of us share the experience to solve problem or post the experience before our memory fake out.

That 1 I'm not sure, you need to run through the RD1 and RD2 spare part part number i posted earlier, the part number is universal, no other hyundai use the same code unless it's the same part.

Yah, i hope so. let's pray...

ehem...last year i bought the same 90A from CM liew which cost rm150 for my friends accent.its identical with elantra 1.8. mine still use the original 75A..
last time i had a few info comparison between chop shop and recond parts..the price is close but chop shop onli gives you 1 week warranty while the recond shop gives you 3 months. recond quality, not bad.they use new coil. onli worried about is the ic regulator.my old ssgti still running with 70A recond alternator for 3 years now.
i think its better to upgrade (if you had a chance to replace any). the important thing is the mounting, connector, pulley size and of course the voltage spec.
tips:-
you can try checking your alt condition by measure it using multimeter.
standalone battery has 12.6V when engine start, the voltage increase to 13.5V (for coupe spec.) and IC regulator will sustain this figure.when load added (such as lights,a/c,amp etc) the voltage will drop BUT this ic regulator will control the voltage not dropping till battery spec. normally, its will remain at 13A above..
if this is your measurement, your alt is healthy and so do your wiring.

there was a post by michael about the hyundai parts price.may be we could be our main dealer since his price is competetive.and asan offer,he might give special discount..

3 years for that price, worth it to the max, man. Guys, please keep CM Liew contact in your pocket.

You all can refer to my last pic, on the Alternator sticker stated that 13.5V 90A clearly. The 37300-222000 is the Hyundai part no for Alternator. You may refer to the thread I started earlier for other part no.

my new Alternator give me 13.5V after started, after switch on Headlamp (low, high beam), fog lamp, , audio, it drop to 13V.
Old alternator give me 12V after all things switch on.

ABV9750, who is michael and asan???

oppss..typo error.its as an.not asan..hehe
i do read a thread some time ago and the guy name michael reply and saying that he is a hyundai parts dealer.he also had quote some of the parts price for some model..i think you can search the past thread. may be we also could hav an excell fill of parts list price vs shop. this could widen the info we hav and sharing each other.
may be we can compare with genuine hyundai vs imported hyun-kia Mobbis.

for improve voltage sustaining, VS might help. i got a 150k uF customize from ah guan zth..its upkept my old battery alive.

dartango, both RD1 and RD2's Alternator have the same Part No, hence it's the same.
