I'm not D1 competitor (hopefully will one day). Just would like to give my 2 cents.
As everyone knows, a roll caged car in Malaysia is illegal. A car with a roll cage is like having a big red-bulls-eye on our back for our friendly neighbourhood Traffic and JPJ officers.
Could you guys can talk to the authorities (JPJ? Puspakom?) about this.
I mean, maybe somekind of special pass or permits so that D1 participant cars are allowed to be driven on public roads or something.(Something like D1 STREET LEGAL)
I think the number of competitors who can afford to retire a car purely for D1 competition is less than a handfull.

Only 4 point, consider half cage. And 5 round a year, so just bolt on when you need.
Unless you really serious about your own safety, then weld as many point as possible to protect your self. But for a proper race or drift car with proper setup of roll cage, I don't think is suit to drive on road already. Malaysia is not like Japan, the road so bumpy. If you drive with roll cage, yes it is safe but for a certain period your chassis also can't handle.
Next month I will have some rollcage packages that will comply to the regulations available for the more popular vehicles, and I am trying to make them as affordable as possible.
To add to that, I once had a car with a 4-point bolt in cage. 2 hrs to put in, go race for a weekend and later only 2 hrs to unbolt and remove. 16 bolts in total. All by myself.
please enlighten me, cuz my idea of having a rollcage is that the whole thing need to be solid, and it will be too big to put the dang thing in if you pre-build it. thats why i see alot of people weld the rollcage inside the car.
lets just say you can unscrew the rollcage from the car, how you take it out? or is it that you guys using some rollcage that can taken apart instead one whole solid unit? if thats the case, will it be as rigit as the solid one?
i'm no d1 participant, but would like to know more cuz it would be useful for my autokhana event.
As a participant in a Motorsports event it is the duty of participants to read and understand the regulations. Should there be something they wish to seek clarification AFTER reading the regs then they should ask the Officials.
However many Malaysian Motorsports entrants don't even bother to read and understand regs and/or schedules. The just come up and ask this that there here what where when. If something is not clearly stated I'd understand if someone wants to seek clarification but most regs are in plain english for anyone to understand.
