wonder if Toyota bring back AE86 "special edition" or "20 years retirement anniversary edition " (means exact model) with the price tag RM150K-RM200K (after AP, import tax and etc), how many so call "supporter" will buy that car?
hehehehe... AE86 fan base is VERY-VERY-VERY huge, mate. i think it will sell very well here. hahahahahaahha

remember, that skylines were priced at 300K a piece, still i see them in large today...

Lucky me. l already own a ori AE86. Only improvement would be to make it with slightly a wider track & longer wheelbase within the same dimension.

And a more pwerful OE engine. a 2ZZ would be nice.

and if they keep it sub 1000kg would be awesome.

It looks like Toyota have forgoten to make enthusiast cars in the 90s. RWD replaced by FF. Celica 4WD replaced by FF . Only exceptions were the MR2/S and Supra. And Supra relacement still not out.

the times of 4A-GE and 3S-GE engines are long gone. Toyota now are selling cars with new generation engines which can be recognized by the letter Z. it started in 1989 with Lexus SL400 engine 1UZ, then other versions released to replace old tech engines like RZ series (in Prado), KZ series (Diesel Prado, Hilux), JZ (in Supra, Soarer), ZZ (Corolla), TZ (Old Estimas TCR10), AZ (Camry) and NZ (Vios)

its unlikely Toyota will re-produce AE86, its like taking step backwards when they have access to F1 technology.

Toyota make cars to sell. and they would do all out to beat competitors like the new Lexus IS 4.4 litre V8 (refer this month Top Gear magazine). modern hot hatches are making full use of turbocharger, refer Golf GTI, Vauxhall Astra VXR, Ford Focus ST, Seat Leon GTI and such...Toyota would probably do likewise

Celica 4WD was produced as homologation for WRC, Toyota swapped to Corolla WRC in late 90s which explains why there were no more 4WD Celica.

your AE86 is really nice, reminded me of the earliest levin i saw back in early 90s. same color as yours. the 2ZZ is suppose to be the grandchild (evolution) of the 4AG, i think.

they were trying to play catch up most of the time & numbers always dictated the board, thankfully at least they (engineneering) still manage to churn out & pursued the MRS development (back in late 90s) despite Yota board did not give backing.

you never know.:_:

Anyone noticed there are no more 2 door coupes from Toyota already? Forget the AE86, they are building spaceships already. hahahaha.

beh.. i'll be doing the bunta in a scooby coupe...
but seriously, a blown new hachiroku would be cool... 300 bhp form a 2.5 litre engine in a 1100kg car....
let's see if they don't go 4wd then...
