Default Cold War Re-Ignites Between the Shelby GT500 and the Camaro ZL1

Back in the 60’s, two Cold Wars that were taking place; one was big and scary confrontation between the Americans and the Russians, and the other was between General Motors and Ford. Both had come out with a muscle car of their own to spearhead the Detroit Cold War, which saw the Ford Mustang rising as the victor against the Chevy Camaro. The Camaro took a serious beating as in the Mustang’s first full year, 500,000 units were sold. General Motors at the mean time, with the same time span, did not manage even half of that.

But that was 50 years ago. And with the modernized versions of both the muscle cars still rolling in the streets today, it seems that Camaro did not really lost and the war is pretty much on. The Ford Shelby GT500 versus the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Both are proper muscle cars, and both are equally mean. But could both put a lasting impression on the yet another English auto journalist, Chris Harris?

While Jeremy does his tests with a way that will definitely involve the mega-horsepowered cars going sideways with a trailing cloud of smoke followed by his confusing yet entertaining metaphors of describing the ride, Chris does it in a pretty similar manner, only in a bit more sensible way. More facts and real-world explanation. And with a combined power of around 1200 horsepower from the two muscles, it is going to be a challenge to stick to reality on this one.

Could the icons of American muscle cars give an ever-lasting impression to an Englishman, or would it just be another massively-powered monster with harsh handling? If you are a fan of these muscle cars, take some time out and enjoy this quick review of both of these monsters with Chris on the wheels.
