engine mount block? What does this lock down to? I mean what is connected to this part of the engine? And more importantly - how did it break?

The holes are for my car front engine mount. I do not know how it happened. My mech told me about it when he was changing my clutch. He said it was already broken when he saw it, and my mounting still can tighten to the holes. However I want it repaired. I know it can be done, but where is the place and estimated price?

Also, no point of me arguing with him as I do not know when it really breaks.

alu welding can be done but usually done at engineering shops and most of them won't entertain the whole car. They'll expect a simple table-top block or something. You'll need to ask around man

Not too sure, but my previous car many years ago had an accident, the engine mount broke, so they swap another engine in. Maybe easier since insurance claim.....

Apparently need remove whole engine block, remove the insides and bring only the shell to the workshop only they can do. Cannot direct do while on the car apparently, due to they are afraid the heat generated might damage the engine internals like seals etc.

I am not worried abt engine internals, only the seals. Thats a thick piece of aluminium thus takes longer for the surrounding to heats up.
If the area is spacious to weld and drill then i do believe it can be welded while the engine is in the car. Weld a bit then stop, weld then stop, let the metal cool down in between weld.....Unless there is a seal very2 near to the weld area. Then again, if only one or a few seals and its easy to replace i will sacrifice the seals.

Your dilemma is just like what i am experiencing with my BLM which got a worn out sub frame bush. To replace, workshop will remove the whole subframe so they can press the bush out. Labour is quoted between 300-500....for replacement of parts which cost only RM40.

Isnt there a bush extraction tool they can use without removing the entire subframe?
