weird knocking sound from engine

My 4G15 emmiting knocking sound. i sent for major overhaul but yet it's still there. Some say its head failure. comment pls?

wat should i do:

1. buy new head
2. skimming my existing head
3. Buy new head and skim it

which one is better?

what kind of knocking sound? the engine pinging type of knocking sound or what? retard timing?
