this morning was driving my wife's car myvi went to buy paint at jotun shop. the paint was put next to me on top of passenger's leg room area. shit thing happens during cornering. the paint fell and the cover was opened.arghhhhhhhhhhh!!! damn damn damn!!. passenger door, gearstick console, seat, panels and lower part of the dash all filled with paint!!!! can you imagine half of the 5 litre paint gone inside your car??? it was the horrible experience and i almost fainted when seeing this. i keep cursing and blaming the guy who got me the paint because how come the cover can opened so easily. it dint fell from top to ground. without waiting, i speeding back to home since not too far only. i keep using water and clothes to wiped since it is a water based paint. but still it left a lot of paint marks.

i tried to use 99soft/car shampoo also cannot leh. later today, i went to jotun shop and asked the boss to pay back for my damage. he told me im not the first cust who complained about this and it just one of my bad day. i keep telling it was your worker fault who dint close the cover nicely. the boss keep on repeating it was nicely sealed because it was done from the machine. then i told him if it was nicely sealed, how come it opend so easily? he said oh maybe the pressure and the force during the bucket fell down. lastly, he told me wont pay a single cent for my damage and if you want compensation, just call up Nipxxx company and complain. if they agreed, he'll pay for that. anyone faced this problem before? im my life, i always open up the cover with force and doesnt believe it can open so easily. this whole day i havent call up to complain because too busy removing all the panels, seat and carpet for cleaning. my ques is can someone please let me know how to remove those stains on panel and carpet? do you think this is possible to force the boss pay me back my damage by filing a complain to comsumer tribunal?

in this situation, memang its not the shop's fault..The can is closed tightly if compressed with the machine. But they do have responsibility to remind you that it can opened if it falls. They should have given you a box. and you should put it in a way where it wont fall off easily..

Temperature change can result pressure build up in the can and the pressure can push the cover open if great enough. Normally the cover will be tight but in your case, when the paint fell and its weight caused the can flexed, the little pressure in the can may manage to push the cover open at the q point. Personally, I don't think you can win if go and put the case in court. They can always ask why you don't put it in a proper place or even hang it. As the shop is not offering you door to door delivery or any insurance, anything out of the shop is your responsibility to take care of, except the quality of the paint which the shop sell to you. I think the most you can ask is to get some little discount on your next purchase.

For the mess that happen, you can either spend some time to clean it up or send to a professional to get it done. If you have any part that you can't clean, you can post some pictures here and I believe people can give you hundreds of ideas on how to get it done.

sigh....then really consider one of my bad day.guys out there please be remind to put your can properly to avoid case like me. some parts really cant clean 100%. and you know since myvi dash is greyish color while the paint is white color. so there will be a huge color contrast. no choice but today i sprayed it with a flat black. luckily not much different if compare to stock color. yeah, will post some pic tomorrow. about the carpet, the stain still there. thinner can only removed about 60%. the reason why is because the paint dried too fast before i get it cleaned. will ask professional shop about this also.

i think mine is worse.. my wife drove her kancil with 20l of paint at the back seat..
n when she brakes 1/2 of it flooding onto the carpet.. she panics n drove back home spray the with water.. it almost filling the whole floor up tothe front..luckily the water not get into the ecu.. when i got back from office, i got no choice..have to took off the seat n stripped off the floor carpet..spray with water..brushing..brushing..brushing..n doing that until midnite..n u know how it feel.. but thank god the yellow paint vanished from the black carpet..but it take a week ++ to completely dried.. n she drove the car only with driver seat...just sharing mine..there's nobody to blame..huhu.. =(

yes, drunk then accident nothing to blame except yourself. taiko since when was your last time buy paint? this is not shy or wat. in fact, paint and drunk is totally different comparison. air tight seals was done by the machine. if hand punya kerja, sure i bash the worker until no tomorrow. base on my so many exp and countless times buying and opening the seal, it was very tight and without using force, definetely you cant open it. the first thing of cos i blamed the machine and the shop since it was their machine and it was their worker who did it. like other forumers explained, it could be the air pressure causing it even just a little fall. so end up, just one unlucky day.
