Just to share with you all for the latest price update which I found when I was shopping for my set of 18" tyres. All the prices are from Perkhidmatan Tayar Hin Leong located in Jalan Kapar, Klang:-

Size: 225/40/18:
1) Toyo C1S : RM 600 each
2) Michelin PS3 : RM 650 each
3) Neuton NT3000 (Made in Indonesia) : RM 280 each
4) Roadstone (Nexen) N3000 (Made in Korea) : RM 385 each
5) Nankang Ultra II (Made in Taiwan) : RM 360 each
6) Yokohama A.Drive R1 (Made in Philippines) : RM 410 each
7) Yokohama S.Drive (Made in Japan) : RM 550 each
8) Achilles ATR Sport 2 (Indonesia) : RM 320 each

These are the prices that the lady boss quoted me & I opted for a set of 4 pcs A.Drive R1 as it's a very durable lasting tyre which I've used before. Fitting in to my daily ride.:driver:

Thanks a lot for the advice bro..
In this case, care to explain what's the benefits and drawbacks of directional and asymmetric tires??
Been seeing them around for a while..
I just don't know what benefits they could bring to road users..
:)
try typing "directional and asymmetric tires" in the google search.

Bro vr2turbo, yup..... I was stunned to hear that the Neuton NT3000 is so damn cheap for 225/40/18 but I don't dare to take the risk to try it out. I always wanted to stick back to Yokohama R1 as used it before on my Wira-lution before this back in year 2005. Damn good acceptable grip tyres!

I was in the middle of deciding whether to go for ATR 2 but then read the reviews online whereby the ATR Sport was pretty noisy.

ATR Sports noisy could be due to block pattern. ATR2 now rib pattern (all jointed up), so should be quieter.....

Indonesian tyres are up coming. Now on one set GT Radial Chamipro HPY and they are pretty good....
Yeah man, I've personally tried & tested a set of GT Radial HPX previously & it was pretty good! Cheap too..... I paid RM260 each for size 225/40/18.

Sometimes cheap things do works bro. Some tyres' brands are under-rated but once u used it before, u'll be amazed on how it is compared to those branded tyres in the market.

Yup, HPX is directional. Latest is HPY asymmetric in pattern, Y speed rating.
One more coming, I think should be UHP1, nice asymmetric pattern but W speed rating.....

Yes, sometimes can get something cheap and relatively good.....

16" in what size? As mentioned certain models may not have. Like HPY models start from 17", so 17 and 18" then no problem....
Oh...damn! Got to change rims to try it 17"
I guess more better tyres are usually 17" and above...more choice of rims too :frown:

Mine is 205/55/16 XM2 currently

Yes, if you look at the car industry, used to start with 12" rims, then 13". Then 70 series is considered low profile already. As the OE rims now started to go with 14" and 15" some even 16", Ultra low profile have gone up to 17".
Having said that, 205/55R16 is common size. Champiro HPX have in your size, but not sure of the price (have not asked before)
Archilles ATR Sports have your size, ATR 2 also starts in 17" woh......
