Tracing from a few years back, Malaysia had suddenly experienced a supercar boom on its roads with a lot of high-end, mega-horsepowered European marquees becoming a choice for the rich and famous. But it is not only the “common” exotics like the Ferrari F430 or anything from the Porsche family line that roams the streets of Malaysia, as the limited-run ultra rare beasts like the 599 GTO or the LP 670-4 SuperVeloce are also in the headcount too.

And when the MCKEE GT-R Drag Battle was changed to the MCKEE Drag.Info, opening the entries to supercars as well, there were tonnes of them making an appearance at Sepang International Circuit last Sunday. It was as if all of the supercars in Malaysia made a special pilgrimage to this circuit in letting the beasts to go wild for once in a while.

Let’s start it off with the red-hot Italian Stallion, Ferrari. The Prancing Horse has been the ever-lasting icon of Italian supercar and is adored by millions from all over; whether it is for the car, the F1 team or both. And with their cars being injected with the DNAs of F1 technology, they do not only look stunning, but also has the hoofs to properly gallop too.

The F430 is one of the widely-encountered Ferrari on our shores, and it is no surprise as it is, as quoted by Jeremy Clarkson, “the cheapest Ferrari of them all”. It was also properly elegant, until the successor came along, the Ferrari 458 Italia which is much sexier and also much more powerful; having about 562 horsepower ready in its disposal.

But of course, it is not always about power as the matter of taste also comes into play. The 360 Modena might not have as much power as the Italia, but it still represents itself very well, hiding the fact that it is now reaching an age of 13 years old. And although this 355 Spider is older than the Modena, especially with the classic styling cues like the pop up headlights, it is still a properly good looking car.

However, Ferrari could never sit comfortably as thanks to Mr. Enzo’s fiery words, he had singlehandedly created himself a lifelong archrival; Lamborghini. And if Ferrari’s styling cues focuses more on a smooth, fluid movement to create the outline of their cars, Lamborghini goes with a more aggressive approach by combining sharp lines and edges to give out the modern + don’t-mess-with-me looks.

Although dubbed as the baby Lambo, the Gallardo is really not something that one would like to mess with, especially with the V10 residing in the middle of the car.

So if messing with the baby is not recommended, it is best to leave the papa untouched as the massive V12 powering the Murcielago is not just a heavy lump of metal, it resembles a powerful nuclear reactor in the automotive world.

Even so, the old reactor dating back from the Miura was finally put to rest, and a much more powerful version was put into service. Producing a stratospheric 700 horsepower channeled to all four wheels, the Lamborghini Aventador looks more like an F-22 Raptor, only without its wings intact.

Ever heard of the line “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”? That must have been Porsche’s tagline in their design of the 911 as since it was introduced back in the 60’s, it has undergone very little changes that the current model does not really look that far from the earlier generations.

But that does not mean that the performance stays the same too as their straight-six could really squeeze out some proper show to give a set of taillights to the opponent. And that goes especially to their lightened, track-ready versions like the GT2 or the GT3 RS which even has a roll cage fixed from the factory itself!

There were also a few more exotics coming from Germany,...

...like this rare Mercedes SLS AMG…

...an SL55 AMG…

...and also a couple of R8s to join in the lineup.

The Brits would not also miss the fun as they were represented by a couple of Aston Martin Vantages,…

...this cute AM Cygnet…

...and this white Bentley SuperSports.

But the one that everyone was looking forward to from them was the one from McLaren. Born in a carefully-controlled lab with a very specific aim of being an Italia-eater, the MP4-12C might not have the catchiest name around especially among supercars, but it is a properly effective track weapon in the proper hands.

Have a thing for American muscle cars? Then these are especially for you. Also joining in the drag mayhem was this Camaro SS and a GT500 sporting a shade that will definitely please the Royal Family of Johor’s taste.

The Art of Speed’s star, this 4-door Chevy Impala was also present during the event, although it did not took part in any of the events lined up for the day.
