We love Renaultsport. Every machine they make is always focused to mash your mind in every way. Every vehicle that comes out of their stable is simply exquisite to behold. Lets just say, the people at Renaultsport knows how to make something that could possibly be boring, and turn it into a petrolhead's wet dream.

And they've striked again. First glance, it looks like an F1 car but... do you know what it really is?

Welcome petrolheads to the Renault Twizy Renaultsport F1 concept. For those who has no idea what a Renault Twizy is, its a plug-in electric vehicle that Renault developed, and last year, it was the best selling electric car in Europe. Although its classified as a quadricycle in Europe, it's looks very cool. Powered by a 17hp electric motor sent to the rear wheels, the Twizy has a comical range of 100kilometres only. Originally, it looks like this (picture below).

But after undergoing some Renaultsport treatment, it now looks like an F1 car. In fact, it even comes with the F1 KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) technology. This concept is now a single seater, with added F1-styled front and rear splitter, aerodynamic side-pods that will manage the airflow at high-speed and a big F1 wing to define it's F1 styling. Renaultsport's design directer says, " Our objective was to reinforce Twizy’s ‘fun’ side by using F1 cues to express its personality".

To match the F1 styling, of course theres been added firepower underneath the Twizy. But when we say firepower, we actually mean electric. The KERS technology that has been thrown on this Renaultsport Twizy is the same tech that Renault use for their F1 car. Immediately it increases the power from 17bhp to 97bhp. Now, that may not sound much... but remember that it only weighs 564kgs. This marriage between added power and lightness gives the Twizy F1 a higher power-to-weight ratio than the Megane RS. Impressive isn't it?

Before you go and jump for excitement, the 97bhp is a only a boost option from the KERS system which only last a maximum of 13seconds. It will require you to regenerate the power to use it again. But heck, 13 seconds is long enough to give one a ride to never forget.

Renault acknowledges that this Renaulsport F1 Twizy is just a 'fun' project from their team, and as part of their programme to create and join F1 technology into production cars. But wouldn't it be amazing to see this on the streets? It looks too cool, with its bright yellow paint and carbon fibre bits. Imagine this in LotusRenault livery. We say, make it! Are you listening Renault? MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
