Following two global recalls on certain Toyota and Lexus models, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), the authorised importer and distributor of Toyota and Lexus models in Malaysia will carry out Sepcial Service Campaign (SSC).

The First recall: To fix the possible crack in welded areas for curtain shield airbag inflators. If the inflator separates, it could cause an injury to the present occupant.

The vehicles affected are:

Toyota Prius: 3,500 units - produced between April 2009 to April 2012

Lexus CT200h: 1,700 units - produced between December 2010 to April 2012

Second recall is on the evaporative fuel emission control in which there may be a crack in the emission channel. A crack that could expand over time and may lead to potential fuel leak when the car is filled with a full tank of fuel.

The vehicles afftected are:

Toyota Prius: 6,000 units - produced between April 2009 to November 2013
Lexus CT200h: 3,000 units - produced between December 2010 to December 2013

The SSC work will take approximately 2-3 hours, subject to the work schedule at the service centre.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified and are requested to bring their cars for the necessary fix at the authorised Toyota and Lexus service centres. All costs for labour and parts involved will be beared by UMW Toyota Motor.

For more information, contact Toyota and Lexus free-phone at 1-800-8-TOYOTA (869682) and 1-800-8-LEXUS (53987) or kindly visit Toyota or Lexus service centre for assistance.

With some research we found an interesting article relating to the Prius's Curtain Shield Airbag removal and assembly titled, although the process practiced elsewhere may be different, this remains a reference for curious owners:
