I've been driving my stock Satria 1.3i for around 7 years and lately I've just finished paying for it (woot!~). As you know, a 7 year old car is like almost falling apart aka bad paint, dents, rusts, rattling engine, creaking suspensions etc etc. So, I'd like to do a total external(paint+bodykit) and internal refurbishing, inclusive of a new engine. I'm looking at a cost of around <8k if possible...

i'm totally a newbie when it comes to car modding, i hope the seniors here can give some advice on parts and workshops...

try to go slow with me on the jargons and specs

With all the problems that you stated on top, I think on engine you change the mountings, do a fuel flush, engine flush. Unless your engine got very big problem, if not what for want to change an engine? Sometimes after change the engine the performance will be worst, as no mechanic can assure you that this engine is 100% good. If got then he is trying to cheat you.

Mivec engine... Then please prepare rm10++, the engine alone(halfcut) already cost rm5-6k minimum if not mistaken few years back. If repaint need rm2-3k, weld back the rust parts, cover back dented parts depend how many place rusted. Bodykit 500-1000. Change to bigger engine braking system have to change as well, another 2k maybe, change suspension and springs another 2k.

If want mod with budget way, can try to mod the engine block from 1.3 to 1.5, so at the end of day you still pay 1.3 road tax but having a '1.5' engine. I think this cost few hundred the most. My opinion is if you engine never give you any problem besides the mounting might be failed already, is better to keep it.

Is 1.5 my friend, not 1.8. I got few friends do like this already, only the down part, the FC is higher compare to a 1.3 engine. Half cut 1.5 Mitsubishi engines alot in the market. Price can start from as cheap as rm1300 till few ks. But nobody can tell that how good the engine can perform. Some eat oil, lack of power, come out white smoke. All is depend on our luck. Even a good mechanic cannot tell how good is the engine by its first look. Unless they know the previous owner or they are trying to cheat us.

i don't really think 4g93 can easily go in 1.3liter ori chasis, as far as paperwork is concerned, its over 25% capacity already.

8k budget with bodykit, interior, and engine... your best bet is to get a 4g91 halfcut if you want a twincam engine.

anyone know the price of 4g61 out there now? i know its an old engine, but still fast, i have trouble chasing down one of those.. maybe just the driver crazy lar.. but i think its good too, the engine.. that is..

So you mean that 4g91 engine all will cost rm5000? The rm1300 is few years back price, and the mech never tell me which engine.

So the producers given them money so they could buy convertibles and what ended up was everyone getting a BMW 325i convertible. Not suprising with the identical cars, but these cars have all sorts of histories, good and bad. Check out the suprise these guys got from their used cars. It's just a really good poke fun moment for them
