The BMW M3 has gained some poundage over the years, resembling more of a tourer now in E90 guise than the raw and bare E30 did when it first came out. Obviously, some of the diehard citizens of M3 nation are non too-pleased with the V8 offering now.

All that could change though as BMW are now giving the proper M-treatment to the 1 Series Coupe that could hark back to the days of less electronics and more driver involvement, much like the E30.

Slated for a release at the Detroit Auto Show in December, the compact M will be packing a 340-hp twin-turbo 3-liter straight six under its hood, the same power plant as found in the Z4sDrive35iS. All that weighing in a package just a shade under 1.5-tons and with a proper six-speed manual should spell maniacal with a capital ‘M.’

While the full reveal will only happen at Detroit in December, BMW have been more than generous with shots of the car undergoing testing covered in the trademark swirly camo used on cars still under development.

Exhaust is a 1.7" pipe from the flexi-joint right to the back, with an S-flow muffler (in/out 1.7").

Recently, I've been experiencing some pretty bad acceleration with it. Thought it was in need of maintenance so I got it serviced. Currently using...
