Modifying Automatic Gearbox

Do anyone know if it is possible to modify automatic gearbox so that will get good acceleration and high top speed?

I will ask you later if I really want to modify automatic gearbox in future, will be buying honda city, might not modify the gearbox because have 5 speed automatic gearbox with paddle shift .
