21,956 units of the 3rd-gen City (2009) and 1680 units of the 2nd-gen Jazz (2009/2010) will need replacement of the lost motion springs and retainers within the engine which may bend or snap over time which results in irregular engine noise and could cause the engine to stall. As a countermeasure, Honda Malaysia will replace these parts at no charge to the affected customers.

It's safe to say that there are no injuries or crashes related to this issue. Honda Malaysia is currently preparing the replacement parts, and will then commence the inspection and replacement effort.

Yoichiro Ueno, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia says, “We sincerely apologize to our customers and deeply regret the inconvenience caused by this predicament. It is our priority to put our customers first. To address this issue, we will be writing to all the affected customers to send their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification from us,”

Seems to be a fact that most manufacturers are

1. cautious and admit to technical recalls to avoid being blamed for damage/claims later
2. using this as a branding effort by showing care/support to customers
3. lacking quality control as such technical recalls could have been avoided in the first place
4. putting up smaller recalls to gain support and peace of mind relatively
5. keeping quiet on bigger recalls as not economical to carry out

Have we as users being conned / kept at bay for the past ten years or more, or is it safe to say those years are zero technical recalls, no effort has ever been made to public awareness because there was no request?

With so much of technology advances and yet we have more recalls, QC should be improved or automotive sectors are similar to IT world where bugs and service packs are a norm ?

Imagine spending few hundred thousand RM to have a ride that need frequent technical recalls masked as technical updates, improved updates, better firmware, etc etc....

simply means u pay first, we get to the problem later (should you discover it first that is)

Agreed.. Futhermore, unlike IT stuffs, faulty cars can lead to accidents, which can lead to fatalities.. like a stuck accelerator pedal for example.

IT stuffs are relative cheap compared to a car nowadays.... if my pc is faulty, i can trashed the whole pc.....

if this recall, open up the car engine and not properly assemble back, more headache will follows as mentioned by some forummers here..... i cant afford to trashed the car....... what sort of action or protection is given to consumer like us??
