Cefiro recommended tyre size

hi fellow forumers,

the tyre placecard on my cefiro (A32 year 2000) indicates 195/65 R15 and 205/65 R15. this is confusing since the two sizes are more than 2% difference. however my spare tyre is 205/65 R15.

as i going to buy new tyres soon, i wonder if i should downgrade to 195/65 R15 for fuel economy and less rolling resistance or keep using the 205/65 R15 size?

any recommendations?

ur driving cefiro v6 bro. changing from 195 to 205 wont have any significant different unless u change to 235 or 245.

Tried both sizes on my a32 vq30de. No real diff in FC. Only 195/65 cheaper, less grip and feels a bit too small for the car. I went back to 205/65. More comfort. My a33 vq20de (yes I have both cefiros) I changed from 215 to 205 as its cheaper and easier to find, 215 also makes the steering more dull, I prefer more lively and less dead steering. 205 also fits the rim width (jj) perfectly. 215 is slightly too wide for the stock rim on the a33. Personally I think 205 is a good balance for both the a32 & a33.

in that case, i think i'll go for the 195/65 since i don't mind the lesser grip. However, will the 'wet' grip suffer as well?

Another plus for going for the 195/65 (which is lighter), is that i may extract max response from the old engine.

I didn't really push it in the wet with the 195/65 but it did feel slightly more nervous and less reassuring. But its only very slight. I suggest you use 36psi front and 34/35 psi rear.

when you are using 195/65, do you feel engine is revving higher than normal? as compared to 205/65

Very slight on vq30 as gearing is tall but might be more obvious on vq20de as gearing is shorter. But very little diff only more obvious is speedometer reading.

do you still remember how much more RPM say at legal speed limit 110kmph?

Rpm and speedo will be about 5% more.
