Road & Track magazine are reporting that Abarth and KTM are getting in bed together for a love child that will bear the Abarth name but be based on the X-Bow’s chassis.
While the chassis will be from the X-Bow, Fiat will be dropping in its own turbocharged 1.8-liter MultiAir engine in place of the Volkswagen 2-liter in the X-Bow. Based on the engine’s current state of tunes, the two-seater should be rolling with between 180-190hp once it hits the streets.
Earlier rumours had Abarth looking towards Lotus for the use of the Elise chassis but that proved to be too costly for the Italians so they went with the X-Bow. The final product will be priced around the $80,000 region and should hit the marketing 2013.
