Notice that the width of body is marginally smaller which was discovered by one of the car reviewers in UK when they placed 3 adults at the passenger seat. With the smaller windows all around, I guess the car will feel a bit "darkish" inside
It did feel a bit darkish when I sat in the rear, I wouldn't call it tight at this early point, more like cosy, to a certain point, even quite special

it is said to have very low cabin noise. tom please check.
Sadly still on old engine.
And also it's no longer a performance car. It's a fun to drive couple car i may say
You say "old engine" but if you compare with the competition, it's the newest engine of the lot right?

Will be surprised if these things aren't ironed out when producing cars in this day and age but Will try to check that part out, if it's at all severe
Yeah well - Merc and some of the other brands have opted for "blind side" indicators to keep drivers informed rather than making it easier to see overall.

The Civic 1.5 Turbo isn't that old right? The engine and transmission. But omg 1.5L Skyactiv G... lol can't outrun a Myvi 1.5L

I think it's a case of them knowing its going to be unavoidably more expensive than the competition, will be relatively low volume, accepting the fact, having faith in the excessively obsessive Mazda engineering philosophy, still import it to satisfy discerning customers, then enjoy a bit of marketing boost should the Mazda 3 deliver that form of exclusivity it promises
RM140k for the 1.5L is really weak.. objectively a very poor proposition to its peers. Subjectively, it is undeniable that it is a looker, with a very nice cabin.

But keep in mind in other markets it is priced in line with its peers like Civic, whereas here its priced dearer than its competitors.

Again, let's see how the market responds, but the previous Mazda 3 was a very good value and my friend bought one at my recommendation and he is very happy with the purchase.

Yeah, 140k for just a puny 1.5lt 118hp car is just ridiculous. That's almost rm1.2k/hp. Then the top end at 160k for just 160hp is also still an expensive rm1k/hp, similar to the new Camry. On the other hand AMG A45 when it came out was only rm350000 and producing 360-380hp so only rm930-970/hp. ☺

Why la... how do you explain the 1.4 and 1.2L engines from VW that sold quite well back in the day before all the transmission problems

That is down to the perception of owning a foreign vehicle which in the mind of most Malaysian...a premium car.

Yes exactly, people thought " wah Conti German cars, ada twincharge, turbo, DSG, lbh murah dari BMW & Mercs wooo, buy buy!".
