Honda Malaysia today launched the much-anticipated turbocharged Civic. The new Honda Civic made its first local preview during MyAutoFest a few weeks ago and bookings have been open for about one month now.
Since its world debut in the US last year and the introduction to Asean market prior to Malaysian launch, the Honda Civic has gained much hype from the local public.
The Honda Civic is an iconic passenger car in the hearts of many. Popular for its reliability and affordability (in most parts of the world), the Civic possess rich history; anything from serving as loyal family cars to podium wins in racing circuits across the globe.
So, what's new?
This all-new 10th generation Civic is now available turbocharged. There are 3 variants available in our market with two engine options.
Engine and gearbox
- 1.8-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine
- Power: 139hp at 6,500 rpm
- Torque: 174Nm at 4,200 rpm.
- Transmission: CVT
Mid and range-topping Civic:
- 1.5-litre turbocharged VTEC
- Power: 170.5hp at 5,500 rpm
- Torque: 220Nm from 1,700 to 5,500 rpm.
- Transmission: CVT
Full LED headlights with auto leveling and LED foglamps will be exclusively available on the 1.5-litre Turbo Premium only.
Base 1.8-litre and mid 1.5-litre Turbo will share halogen projector headlights. All variants get LED daytime running light (DRL) and side mirrors with turn signals.
As for the wheels, a set of 16-inch 'shuriken-style' wheels are equipped on 1.8-litre model while the 1.5-litre Turbo will be distinguished with a set of 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels.
Available as standard on all variants are multi-function 3-spoke leather steering wheel, 8-way powered seat, rear air cond, remote start, full colour LCD instrument cluster, cruise control, Eco button, reverse camera, electric parking brake, remote engine start and walk away auto door lock.
Equipment like leather seats and premium garnish as well as paddle shifters are only available on the 1.5-litre Turbo Civic. While the Turbo Premium variant adds on dual-climate air cond system.
While navigation system is only equipped on the 1.5-litre Turbo Premium Civic only, all variants will be equipped with 7-inch advanced display audio, MP3/iPod connectivity, 2 USB ports, hands-free phone with voice recognition and 8 speakers.
It is nice knowing that safety is not compromised on the new Civic. All three guises are packed with safety features comprising of six airbags, rear seat ISOFIX points, ABS, EBD, auto brake hold, brake assist, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, emergency stop signal, 4 corner reverse sensors and alarm with immobiliser.
