I'm currently using the standard factory tire 175/65/15. Decided to upgrade to 195, and remain using 15''. But I'm not sure if I should go for 195/60/15 or 195/55/15. Can't make up my mind whether to use 55/60. Opinion on this?

The tire shop recommend me to use Michelin. Heard that it's a soft tire. Suggestions on other brands based on your experiences or reviews are welcome. Thanks, guys

Based on your original tire size, u should opt for 185/60/15 instead of 195/55 or 195/60 as your stock rims is not that wide to accommodate 195 width tires. I assumed that your ride is the latest Honda City S spec without paddle shifters right?

I would suggest u to go for 185/60/15 which is also a standard tire size for Suzuki Swift CC3 & it's usually comes in Bridgestone RE080 (made in Thailand).

185/60R15 is the one with the closest overall diameter, but tyre choices for this size is very little.
Suggest you upgrade to wider rims and use 195/55R15.

Yes, that is correct. I actually made up my mind to go for 195 because have a feeling that upgrading to 185 wouldn't have any significant difference to the handling.

Wider rims? Is it okay to use my existing rims?

If I'm not mistaken, it's 5.5J x 15"
If it is 5.5" then okay, can use as that is the minimum requirement.
I am just afraid it comes as 5", then not good as the sidewall will be squeeze inwards.
Best is 6" or 6.5", maximum 7" for 195/55R15 size

I don't get how the sidewall will squeeze inwards if the rims are not wide enough. Do you mean because the rims are not wide enough, the sidewalls will ended up 'above' where it should be?

Let see if I can explain in such a way you will understand better.
If you look at a unmounted tyre, it have a shape by itself, right? Means 195 size which is roughly 7.6" (tyre pattern), the tyre sidewall fairly straight and curve in slightly towards the bead area (place wear tyre in mounted to the rims). So if you use a 6" or 6.5" rims, the tyre will retain this shape. If you use a 5" rims, the bead area will be squeeze in, so the length of the tyre sidewall is curved inwards further (tyre sidewall squeeze inwards). The flex of the tyre sidewall will not be natural as per original shape. The shoulder of tyre pattern also will curve upward, therefore tyre pattern not fully on contact.

Yup! Exactly what I wanted to describe during my previous post

I went to the tire shop and they shown me the 195/55 and 195/60. They told me that if I wanted to use 195/55, it's best to lower my car after that. But that being said, I realize that if I use 195/55, the tire-fender remains as 4 finger gap, which is same as my current height.

So it's NOT necessary right? Since the gap before and after is the same. On the other hand tire-fender is around 2.5 finger if I use 195/60.

185/60R15 is the closest - 0.89% smaller
195/55R15 - 2.13% smaller
195/60R15 - 1.08% bigger
Using 195/60, you may need more force to start off, fc, may be higher.
If you lower the car, the ride will suffer, sure become bumpy....
