    Civic EG vs Satria Gti

IMO both gti and eg is a nice car. Its a matter of preference and budget. Ofcourse, asking from a honda forum you'll definitely get people to ask you to get the eg hehe. The B20b/B16a hybrid would not be such a bad idea and its not too big for you coz you'll adapt to it sooner or later. In...

    engine jerking... b16a

The plug is wet due to engine oil or due to fuel.. i'm sure you can tell the difference. If oil, then there's some leakage and if its fuel, then its overfuelling. Don't tell me you floor the pedal at 1.5-2k rpm at 4th gear. Thats crazy hehehe.

RON 95 vs 97 on B16A (or any DOHC VTEC engine), whats your opinion?

Hi Pangyau, I think you saw another group. We went over to KK from 27-30th Nov. Yeah we only have RON 97, 92, 88 and diesel. Normal daily fuel would be 97.

    just some newbie question

How about a stroked b18c(type R) to 2 liter. It would be possible also. Either a b16b or b18c(type R) head does not matter head wise coz its a ported out b16a head. But b16b cams are a little bit more wild compared to b18c.

RON 95 vs 97 on B16A (or any DOHC VTEC engine), whats your opinion?

i went to kota kinabalu last week from brunei with my biker friends to do some uphill and downhill challenge. We did a couple of refuelling and i did notice knocking with petronas 95 and my water temp is hotter. Normally cruising at 120kmh is 78 and after fill up is constantly showing 88...

    Skunk2 Pro 2 B-series question

I used to have their catalogue a year ago when i was thinking of putting it in but lost it somewhere. It has the recommended cam degree there BUT, it wasn't specific for a b16a. Maybe you can do the motor clay to check the clearance provided the head and block are virgin hehe. But as a start...

    Skunk2 Pro 2 B-series question

Anyone has any info on the clearance of the SK2 pro 2 series on a bone stock b16a block with built head. I was thinking of buying the cam and putting it on my stock block. Don't worry, its boosted  My main concern is the clearance on the P30 piston. Max rev would be around 8500rpm. I...

how to know 1.6 or 2.0 blk..

I didn't know the ribs play a part in the strengthening process :dancing2:. I thought the bottom sides of all the sleeves are pressed onto the block (one cast design). The RS ratio mainly determines its rev-ability rather than the ribs

It might not be the normal way of driving but depending on gear and rpm, the engine won't jerk if what arrowhead way of driving is as described. But If 4th gear at 1000rpm and full throttle :rofl:the jerking might be fatal :rofl:which ofcourse is a knocking issue and is what we shouldn't be...

Just to add up to the MSD comment: I was advised by my tuner that I shouldn't be using MSD or any blaster coils if i were to use Hondata S300 coz of some signal interference especially on the timing side and something to do with background noise. This was apparent with my friends turbo...

Going for dyno wideband check would indeed benefit in terms of troubleshooting because you have real time ignition timing and AFR. Atleast you can narrow down the faults to either 2, ignition or fuel related. I'm still waiting for ground checks and wire burn checks. Until then, adios.

Check your valve train component. From camshaft lobes, rocker arms, LMA's or even the pistons on the rocker arm (forgot what it is called which is used to lock the rocker arm when vtec engages) or anything which are part of the VTEC system. Suspect some worn out parts there or faulty parts...

I guess i'm late already since you've already changed a lot of parts to fix the problem. But look at the bright side, you've already replaced all the basic needs right hehe. RON 95 vs 97 on B16A (or any DOHC VTEC engine), whats your opinion?

Wouldn't a retune on every honda on RON95 be a better solution? I know you won't be making as much power on a RON 100 or 97. But atleast it gives you a piece of mind when whacking out the engine.

Pls suggest which engine should i choose

Ofcourse the B20 will give more torque than the B18C (gsr or type r). But I will go with Jin's advice, use back the B16a head and swap the block to a B18C. Any extra money, get some cams and valve train components. The block can handle 8000rpm reliably in stock form and bear in mind that stress...

    Questions about Camshafts

Not a lot of cams would make power up that high RPM. When talking about reliability, any engine would get stressed revving up to that point but let the others chime in regarding this. Toda C would be my choice for ocassional high rev based on your list. But my personal choice for a daily...

    Questions about Camshafts

To start with, what is your application? 2- Whats your compression? 3- What RPM are you planning on revving to? The supertech is the same as any other as long as you match the lift of the cam to the valve spring and keep the seat pressure reasonable with the springs. Cam gears, I...

Thanks guys, the car just got tuned 25th August 09. The car puts down 286hp (~248whp) at 0.6 bar on stock b16a block but tuned conservatively timing wise. B-series with Ron95?97?

You can use a lower grade fuel if you are concern about the price... ron 95 will still be ok. Just don't go for 90 or lower, coz you'll definitely lose power. Good thing we have knock sensors installed, it'll automatically retard the timing if a knock is heard... thus losing power also. Anyway...

Skunk2 cam using skunk valvespring or supertech?

I'll be the bad guy to say that its ok to run them on type R valve spring. The exhaust lift seems to be insufficient to handle but not much to really alarmed about. With stage 1 cams, you won't be revving 8500rpm i supposed, so it'll be ok i guess. Good luck.

Skunk2 cam using skunk valvespring or supertech?

why don't you use aftermarket steel retainers then. Just for a peace of mind. If you read through the web, people use hard core springs being afraid of p2v hitting due to valve float. So choosing hard springs is theoretically the right move, but thinking about the spring pressure with the...

    b18C or B20B block, which 1 better

The problem with 20B is the RS ratio, side wall load increases with RPM and they are also not so forgiving with high cylinder pressure and detonation. So the key to its reliability is reasonable RPM and tuning. But yeah, i have to agree, for a peace of mind, the 18C engine is a better choice. If...

Skunk2 cam using skunk valvespring or supertech?

Ti retainers more durable than stock retainers? That is a wrong impression there. The trick to it is to match your spring pressure with your cam requirements. Don't go overboard with it if your cams don't require those spring pressure. Entirely up to you.

    b18C or B20B block, which 1 better

When it comes to design, the B18c will be much better compared to the B20b coz of the sleeve design. Honda no good??? Why???

I will have to agree that Toyota's undercarriage parts and suspension are a bit more durable compared to honda's. Engine reliability, both are the same. Power wise, give and take, each has its useable power somewhere in the RPM. Which car is more fun to drive, it'd be honda. If you are after a...
