Just wanna ask anybody own a Proton Preve before and what is the biggest issue you have faced?

I am just consider to change my Old car for a New Preve 2018. Since my budget is only around that price range for a new car.
If you are asking why not choose the New myvi or Persona because I my old car is a myvi so skip that:laugh:.Persona I will consider also but since I have a oppotunity to change to a new car so I might choose a more powerful car:driver:

Have you test driven it? Biggest issue is utter crap stock tires. Like really, most rubbish tires I’ve ever had the experience of driving with.

1 friend of mine had one, it think its 4 or 5 years old with about 200k km on the odo.
Only problem so far is it jerk and die at crawling speed recently.after cleaning the throttle body and some tuning, its gone.

The center plastic dash tend to break near the button stack. but not rattling so far.

If u can afford the latest facelift Preve then go ahead.it has leather and proper headrest instead of neck rest on the Persona.
The facelift comes with 17inch so i am unsure how it will affect the ride.

I was attract by the facelift model. They have alot of stuff inside it and also they say they have improved the nvh and the engine mount to reduce rattling. So I am very interested in it.

It's a good car. Dont buy new. Get a used unit. Those are selling for 20+K. Best bang for buck

2nd hand I just scared the engine mount issues face by a lot of people. So I might consider a new one since they have improved the engine mount issue and the NVH.

I dont have much NVH issues. Just get it sound proofed. With regards to engine mounts, it's only RM300 for a set of new ones. How often do you reckon you will replace it?

As long as you follow the recommended oil change intervals and change to proper oils and specifications you'll be fine. Most of the issues that was faced by the earlier batch Preves have been fixed. Like gearbox breather location that sucks up water when driving over flooded roads, TCU screwing up, oil catching and clogging the sensors around the intake area, popping out water hoses, popping out intercooler (?) hoses and constantly breaking power windows

I own a first batch unit. 80K km now. Never had issues with breaking power windows. Misaligned yes. Broken no.Didnt have gearbox sucking up water despite our rainy weather. Last when I checked 2 days ago, also didnt have oil clogging up the turbo inlet. Intercooler hoses hasnt popped out. Nothing major thus far. Only time I got stuck was when the plastic bush in the gear selector broke.

i currently own a suprima. If you are as particular about a car's maintenance as i am then im afraid the used car lot has not much to offer. although i did buy a used one, it is only because it was very very well maintained by the previous owner and it only had 25k on the odometer. otherwise the lot that i saw was very dodgy and a ton of used cars have "freshened" the look to make it look decent. After driving it and careful scrutinizing these units it revealed otherwise. being in the Cfe group on fb also reveals that a large amount of owners dont spend enough on preventative maintenance and only care about the outlook of the car. They use cheapo oils, to delaying service and etc. The only problem about buying these cars new is, as soon as it is registered the value would have dropped a ton. Personally for the price bracket its a decent daily car and with the right tires you will have some decent fun on the twisties. However, the car is what people call manja. dont be cheap on maintenance you will be fine. owh on another note is the clutch type cvt box. learn to be patient when moving from standstill and not pedal to the metal. All the best bro.

Best advice ever. The car is not worth 70k, but I don't want to always be seen shitting on people's parade.

RM50k savings can change many, many, many, engine mounts. Hell you can custom make fluid filled engine mountings. As for buying used, the usual caveat emptor. Look for one with Proton SC service history, and you need to look at the owner, buy the owner not the car. Before buying, get a mechanic experienced with Preve to check, he would know which seals to check for oil leakages and the common issues, as well as if the CVT is behaving as it should.

Set aside some money to change the usual wear and tear parts. Absorbers, brake pads, all oils and fluids, all filters, spark plugs, engine mounting (depending on mileage and age) and should be good to go. At 20k+5k maintenance, 25k its hard to beat.

Hi ZTH members! I really really really need you guy's help on this problem. I drive a Proton Satria Mivec 2002.
When I do my daily driving around PJ, the car is like normal. But once i hit the highway on the way to ipoh, around 1 hour and a half later, my car vibrates and gives out a sound something like "Doop Doop Doop". It feels like as if im driving over the small reflector lights on the road. AND THIS ONLY HAPPENS AFTER MORE THAN 1 HOUR.

Everytime when this happens, i stop at the...
