Have you ever wanted to own a McLaren F1, but find that not only such machines are very rare but once there is one for sale, the price tag is just over the roof? We might have a solution for that and while it may not strictly be a McLaren F1, this replacement however does have that slight resemblance that you will only get on the great British supercar.

What we are talking about here is the center-drive driving position of the F1 and surprisingly there is one Porsche 911 configured with one! Actually this is the second Porsche 911 that has been given a central driving position and this particular example will be auctioned at the Mecum’s Monterey auction going on from August 13-15.

According to the listing, the whole process of moving the gauge cluster, pedals, center console, steering wheel, shifter and parking brake took over 300 hours of labor. The conversion done by Centro 911 did not only make the sports car a more track-focused machine, it had also granted more leg room for the passengers in the rear.

Offering such a special customization, one would expect the price tag to not be that cheap as the conversion itself costs USD 75,000 which does not include the price of the donor car. The car comes with a 3.8-liter flat-six engine pushing out 355-horsepower and mated to a six-speed manual transmission. This 911 Carrera S is expected to go for USD 85,000 – 115,000. Would you pay such an amount of cash for this unique creation?
