Although they do not state it publicly, Ferrari now has more than just Lamborghini to worry about dominating the supercar market. McLaren now is making a strong appearance as well and the 675LT is sure to give the 488 GTB a hard time. And not long after Ferrari had launched their new 488 Spider, McLaren responded by taking the roof off their Long Tail to come up with the 675LT Spider.

Like the Coupe, McLaren will only produce a limited amount of 500 units worldwide, which is quite a surprise considering there is a lot of demand for their magnificent 675LT.

Dubbed as the “most focused, fastest and exhilarating open top model to ever wear a McLaren badge”, this new Spider shares the same key characteristics of the Coupe on being a lightweight supercar with enhanced aerodynamics, high power and track-focused dynamics.

Powering the Spider will still be the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine pushing out 675PS (666BHP) at 7,100rpm and 516 lb-ft of torque available between 5,000rpm and 6,500rpm. Zerotohundred takes only 2.9 seconds and it has a top speed of 326km/h. The three-piece retractable folding hardtop roof can be operated on the move up to 30km/h.
