The Seoul Motor Show might not be one of the top motorshows there is, but that does not mean that there will not be any unique cars making an appearance. Being on their home ground, Hyundai presented their three-door Enduro crossover concept which we admit looks quite nice, but the one catching our attention is the RM15.

From the outside, the RM15 looks like a Veloster prepped for some sort of track duty. While that may be true, the RM15 also has a unique trait hidden underneath as this is Hyundai’s take on a mid-engined, lightweight race car.

The RM15 or Racing Midship 2015 features an aluminium core structure with carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) body panels with the intention of shaving any unnecessary weight. It is a wise move as they managed to shave off a total of 195kg, bringing the weight down to 1,260kg. The RM15 has a 43 percent front and 57 percent rear weight distribution and the centre of gravity is just 491mm from the ground.

The highlight of the RM15 would be the Theta 2.0-liter T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine mounted transversely behind the two-seater cabin and ahead of the front axle. The four-cylinder engine pushes out 296-horsepower at 6,000rpm and is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. With a torque figure of 383Nm at 2,000rpm, zerotohundred takes only 4.7 seconds.

For extra stiffness, the car is fitted with an integrated sub-frame and a WRC-inspired roll cage. A set of 19-inch mono block forged alloy wheels are fitted with 235/35 R19 tires for the front and 265/35 R19 for the rear.
