Its been a long 6 years since the 3rd generation Scirocco was first launched and we were expecting an all-new replacement this year. However, it seems that the folks at VW has other plans and they are extending the life span of this marketable model just a little longer with a facelift. Is this the right move though?

The all-new facelift features some merely minor updates on the exterior; making it look just a little more fresh. Featuring new front and rear sections, courtesy of newly redesigned bumpers and lights enables a more updated outlook, especially with all-new LED lights keeping this model up with time against everyone else. However – theres no denying that the shape still remains recognisable and many would not appreciate this facelift.

Question is – how much longer will we have to wait until we see the 4th generation Scirocco? This update shows that VW is rather serious to retain this shape; as the revision is more than just on the exterior. VW has also fitted the new facelifted Scirocco with 6 new; more powerful and even more eco-friendly engines to go with the Scirocco.

According to VW – the new engines promises to be 19% more fuel efficient, and at the same time fulfilling the EU6 emission regulation in Europe for new cars. Of course over here; we are not too concerned about emissions. Happily though; the petrol engines offers even more power to satisfy our lust for speed.

More details to come at Geneva Motor Show next month and hopefully some answers too as to when the next gen Scirocco will be coming along. This little refresh seems like a marketing ploy from Volkswagen and we are quite convinced that it won’t particularly impress many fanatics, neither will it attract new buyers.

Whilst the Golf has gone through 2 generations in the period of the Scirocco’s life span, the Scirocco remained and even though it is still a handsome little pocket rocket.. its reaching the end of its lifecycle. So we put out this question to our readers – is this facelift good enough or do we all want a new generation Scirocco?
