Introduced back at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show, the new generation Mercedes Benz C-Class has improved a lot. One significant improvement is the weight saving, as the new W205 C-Class is significantly lighter than its predecessor, the W204 C-Class. Further improvements to the W205’s aerodynamics and new engines sets it apart from its competition.
Replacing the W204 C-Class which was launched back in 2007, the new W205 looks much sharper than the already good looking W204. Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing Mercedes-Benz Cars was quoted, “The new C-Class embodies Mercedes-Benz’s claim “The best or nothing” in uncompromising style. This is immediately apparent when encountering our new Saloon for the first time, as it creates the impression that one is sitting in a higher class of automobile.”
Thanks to the extensive usage of aluminium during construction, the new W205 C-Class has shed over 100 kg. The biggest gain when shaving off that amount of weight is no doubt a better fuel consumption. At the same time, improves the car’s agility and handling. Despite the loss in weight, Mercedes Benz has still put safety as their priority, as the new W205 will meet all safety standards and crash test requirements.
Moving onto the interior, the W205 now features a heads up display, which can show vital information for the driver without having him to take his eyes off the road. Besides that, the COMAND system hooks up to a 7″ display right smack centre of the centre console which is controlled by a touch-sensitive control at the handrest. The touch-sensitive control is also able to recognize handwritten characters.
