Porsche is currently on a roll, bringing out new, more potent models in their current range of cars just months apart. It must be really busy down at the HQ in Stuttgart, especially with the GT3s defective problem. However – they’ve spared no less time to make their entry level sports cars even better with this all-new GTS range.
Unveiled ahead of its official launch next month at the Beijing Motor Show – Porsche is presenting their all-new Cayman and Boxster GTS with even more punch, making it the top-of-the-range model. Powered by the familiar 3.4-litre flat 6 engine, the GTS series produces 15bhp and 7 lb-ft of torque more than the standard car, which adds up to 335bhp for the Cayman GTS and 325bhp for the Boxster GTS. And that is just the tip of the iceberg…
The GTS will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, however PDK is available as an option for those seeking the fast and efficient shifts. Zerotohundred will be dealt with in 4.3 seconds (4.5 for the manual) and keep accelerating to a top speed of 177mph. Power is not the only thing that sets the GTS apart. It sits 20mm lower to the ground courtesy of Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system with adaptive dampers, improving its agility and styling at the same time. The GTS will also be equipped with Sports Chrono package as standard, which entitles the car for a sharpened response.
Aesthetically – the new Cayman and Boxster GTS features 20-inch alloys and blacked out headlight trims, giving it a more aggressive outlook. It will not be difficult to tell them apart we reckon. Interior wise, the GTS comes with upgraded goodies like alcantara sport steering wheel, and sports seats which are atone to the improved performance on the GTS. As Porsche goes, don’t worry as we are pretty sure that there are many other optional extras for you to tick upon purchase. 
We think the GTS series is absolutely fabulous and on the money. In fact, this actually brings the baby 911s even closer to the bigger brother than it already was with the all new generation. It is set to hit the showrooms in Europe and the US in Summer later this year, and probably reaching our shores late towards Q4 2014. The GTS will set you back an extra $10,000 but we reckon with the improved performance, it will be selling like hot cakes. Awesome stuff from Porsche!
