McLaren introduces the tamer 625S for the Asian market

At first, there was the MP4-12C. But then McLaren reckoned that it could make do with more power, which resulted in them tweaking the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 and giving a new look, transforming it into the 650S. But it seems that in some parts of the world, the 650S’ 641bhp is a bit too much for the customers to handle, which led to the introduction of the 625S.

Like the name suggests, the 625S is a less-powerful version of the 650S. Catering to the “customer demand in the Asian market”, the 625S will have an output of 616bhp and 450 lb-ft of torque, which is similar to the discontinued MP4-12C. Zerotohundred is dealt in 3.2 seconds, and it has the same top speed as the 650S; 333km/h.

The 625S comes with new dampers and a revised suspension setup where they give softer spring rates at the rear, making it “the most refined ride” in its entire line up. They also swapped the brakes from carbonfiber-ceramic found in the 650S to cast-iron discs for a better daily usage and comfort. The McLaren ProActive Chassis Control system however remains unchanged.
