Soon to be revealed in the second quarter of 2015, McLaren again has lifted the covers a bit for the world to have a peek on their upcoming Sports Series. Previously known as the McLaren P13, the ‘Sports Series’ range will consist of models slotted underneath the 650S model and targeting cars like the Porsche 911, Audi R8 and Ferrari’s California T.
Previously showing the prototype in heavy camouflage, the second teaser shows a close-up picture of the P13’s doors. It is similar to those found on the P1 where they are hinged at the base of the A-pillar and hinge upwards; not a surprise since it will inherit the carbon fiber composite chassis.
The chassis is not the only one carried over as the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine will also be tagging along, but it will most likely be de-tuned to allow a zerotohundred time of about four seconds. Putting it a second slower than the 650S Coupe, the top speed is also expected to go down from 333km/h to about 298km/h.
