While Mazda had already taken the covers off their new 2015 MX5, not all of the information of this new roadster was released. Of course, the most anticipated detail of the MX5 is the power plant it will be harnessing, and it is at the 2014 Paris Motor Show that Mazda finally decided to let the cat out of the bag.

The United States’ version of the MX5 will be getting a 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G four-cylinder engine, mated to a SkyActiv-MT manual transmission. While the engine might sound similar to what the Mazda 3 and CX-5 has under the hood, Mazda insists that the one in the MX5 will get its own tuning and probably gain a couple more horses along the way.

As for the other parts of the world, the base MX5 engine will be a new 1.5-liter SkyActiv power plant. Similar to what is powering the Mazda 2, Mazda will most likely to tinker around with the engine to bump up its 100-horsepower output.
