Being one of the most anticipated models to have come out from the brand, Lexus Malaysia finally introduces the all-new Lexus RC 350 and the feistier RC F into the Malaysian Luxury Sport segment. Both the Lexus RC 350 and RC F sits in a class above their premium competitors as they put their focus mainly in driving dynamics and pure styling of the car.
“The Lexus RC marks a new chapter for Lexus Malaysia, and we are proud to be able to offer customers one of the finest coupes in the market today,” said Datuk Ismet, President of UMW Toyota Motor. The Lexus RCs are instantly recognizable, mainly due to their trademark design and Lexus’ signature spindle grille.
Surely to catch the attention at first sight, both models are fitted with state-of-the-art multi-LED headlamps with independent LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL). The low profile and wide stance, combined with its short wheelbase properly describes the RC as a true “2+2” coupe, offering excellent accommodation for driver and passengers with sufficient space.
Over to the inside, one would get a hint of the LFA’s design as Lexus implements a perfect balance of sportiness and elegance. The leather seats are made in the same method as introduced in the IS-F, and the centre console and door trim have been designed to feature a structured layer of parts sitting upon the other; typical of a Lexus design. The Mark and Levinson sound system with high resolution speakers provide 360 degrees spatial envelopment of sound and the RTI Touchpad serves as an ‘operation zone’ for the car, giving drivers images and vibration feedback.
Underneath the RC 350’s hood sits a 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to an eight-speed Sports Program Direct Shift transmission, allowing it to do a zerotohundred in just 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 230km/h. The RC F on the other hand gets the most powerful V8 engine Lexus has ever built with 470-horsepower and 530Nm of torque coming out from its 5.0-liter engine. It gets 12-percent more power than the IS-F engine and thanks to the advanced Atkinson cycle technology, the engine uses as much fuel as the regular RC when cruising.
“The RC-350 is not just business as usual for Lexus, it marks the arrival of a new design language for Lexus sports models. Described as “coolness over utility”, it retains the signature spindle grille but features a clearly more aerodynamic and a sharper profile. The RC-F on the other hand takes it to another level with its muscular stance, active rear wing and carbon fiber components,” said Datuk Ismet Suki.
Orders for both the Lexus RC 350 and the RC F were opened on the 5th September 2014 with a price tag of RM 539,915 for the RC 350, and RM 802,482 for the RC F.
