Is this 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution the last of its kind?

2015 Lancer Evolution MR

We have heard too many rumours about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution where it is axed at one time, and it is not on the other. However, this might be the decisive of the Evo’s fate as Mitsubishi comes out with a model simply dubbed the 2015 Lancer Evolution, and it seems that this one just might be the final piece of the puzzle.

2015 Lancer Evolution GSR

The GSR version comes with a 6.1-inch touchscreen display as standard, six-speaker stereo, leather sports steering wheel, hands free and USB connectivity, 18-inch wheels, a Brembo brake package, and a five-speed manual transmission. The Premium Package is also being offered which includes Mitsubishi’s Sight and Sound Package, leather seats, power glass sunroof, heated front seats, sound dampening enhancement and piano black accents on the dashboard.

The MR model on the other hand is fitted with a couple of additional features like the nine-speaker Rockford Fosgate sound system, xenon headlights, a six-speed dual clutch gearbox, Bilstein shocks with Eibach springs, two-piece brake rotors and a set of 18-inch BBS forged wheels.

However in the power department, no changes had been made. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine still pushes out 291-horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque, sent to all four wheels via Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control all-wheel drive system.

There has been a lot of speculation on how the Evo’s successor is going to be like, which includes the talks of it being a hybrid. However, it may be years before this successor actually arrives as Mitsubishi themselves said that they will not be starting its development until they have the suitable technology.
