Sneak preview: Gallardo Superleggera LP570-4 Edizione Technica

We did our rounds recently, and noticed that Lamborghini Kuala Lumpur had kept their stable up-to-date by bringing in the latest 2013 Gallardo. When we were there, we sneaked in the to back, only to discover yet another special edition, this one quite a mouthful, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera Edizione Technica.

First unveiled at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, the Edizione Technica brings forward such subtle tweaks that even the most experienced eyes will struggle to note the differences. Lamborghini says that even more carbon fiber has been used, with carbon ceramic brakes now included as standard, improving the car’s power-to-weight ratio. Performance figures remains unchanged though – expect zerotohundred in a little over 3 seconds, and top speed past 300km/h.

Because the Superleggera is already such a complete package, Lamborghini has retained all its core values on the Edizione Technica. Much of the exterior features – the jutting front grille, flared rear diffuser, and large fixed wing, remain. In-cabin experience is no different; Alcantara and carbon fiber featured extensively to assault your senses.

To differentiate the Edizione Technica from the rest of the fleet, Lamborghini offers three exclusive colour options: Nero Nemesis/Arancio Argos (matte black/orange contrast), Bianco Canopus/Arancio Argos (matte white/orange contrast), or Arancio Argos/Nero Nemesis (orange/matte black contrast) as the car you see in our pictures. Sounds simple, but it has to be seen in the flesh to be fully appreciated.

The Gallardo is Lamborghini’s oldest and most successful model yet, with a lifespan of almost a decade, but this clearly has no impact to the model as all the special editions sell-out soon after their release. Still, Lamborghini promises that this will be the final special edition ever, and if we have to be honest, we’re really looking forward to its replacement. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy our pics!
