Volvo Car Malaysia today had added two more new models into their current line-up for the Malaysian market, the new Volvo V40 T4 and T5, and also the more rugged V40 Cross Country. Launching these two exciting models at Mid Valley Megamall’s concourse area, the V40 sets a new milestone for Volvo as it achieved a five star Euro NCAP collision safety rating with the overall result being the highest ever recorded by the institute.
“The all-new V40 is an important model within a new and exciting segment that shows huge potential”, said retired Volvo Car Asia President, Mr Goran Larson. “We intend to be class leading for hatchbacks in terms of driving dynamics, and of course, in safety, and the V40 shows how we have put a great deal of effort both into improving driving characteristics”, he added. The Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia, Keith Schafer, was also present to officiate the launch ceremony.
Obviously, Volvo is well-known for its safety innovations, and the new V40 packs quite a number of them. Among the safety features included are the Enhanced Blind Spot Info System to offer better visibility, Cross Traffic Alert to alert the driver while reversing out from a parking space, and also the City Safety that automatically brakes if the driver fails to react in time, which is now active at speeds up to 50 km/h.
The Volvo V40 T4 is powered by a 1.6-liter GTDi T4 engine that produces 180-horsepower and 240Nm of torque, giving it a price tag of RM 173,888. The T5 and Cross Country on the other hand get the more-powerful five-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged T5 engine that gives them 213-horsepower and 300Nm of torque, with the T5 being priced at RM 188,888 and RM 198,888 for the Cross Country.
