McLaren has been secretive about the performance figures of their latest hypercar; and although we know that the P1 will be hovering around 900bhp from the combination of the V8 engine and the electric motor, it was never confirmed by McLaren themselves. With McLaren delivering the first unit of the P1 to its respective owner, the company immediately release the official performance figures to the world.

Featuring McLaren’s own 3.8-litre V8 twin-turbo coupled with an electric motor – the P1 hybrid hypercar produces of combined maximum output of 903bhp and 900nm. With instant power delivery courtesy of the optimised turbos and electric motor, it will power ahead from Zerotohundred in just 2.8 seconds and all the way to a top speed of 218mph (which McLaren claims is electronically limited). The P1 will run the quarter-mile in just 9.8 seconds at 152mph.

Not forgetting that this is still a hybrid – the consumption figures are equally as impressive as the power. The lightweight construction and electric motors enables the P1 to return an amazing figure of 34mpg and on full electric mode, it will be able to travel 6.8 miles purely on battery power; although we wonder who would actually drive a hypercar fully on friendly juice. Of course, running on electricity means it’ll be emission free however, with the engine running, the P1 produces only 194g/km of CO2.

McLaren confirms that only 375 examples will see the light of day, with each and every unit taking 17 days to complete. Production of the P1 began during the Summer and will commence all the way until mid-2015. With the first customer to receive his P1 yesterday in McLaren’s headquarters – it will mark in the history books for the future to come.
