The All-New Clio RS200 Turbo Unveiled in Paris

The Paris Motor Show is not only about featuring the all-new and exciting supercars for the world to see as it too features some wonderful cars like Renault’s new Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo hot hatch. Sporting a redesigned frontal look and overall bodyline, the new Clio RS200 had also received some new tweaks under the hood.

As “an innovative response to the highly sophisticated expectation of the compact sports hatchback customer”, the new RS200 now has a new direct-injection 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 200-horsepower at 6,000rpm in its disposal. And with 177lb-ft of torque generated as low as 1,750rpm, widening the torque band was Renaultsport’s priority in order to overcome the menacing turbo lag, especially when the model was originally a naturally-aspirated machine.

This new power plant now has a better grunt and does not hurt one’s wallet to fill in the tank, thanks to its brake energy recovery system and variable valve timing. And in another tradition-breaking move, this new Clio which used to be a manual now has a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox taking care of the shifting.

Buyers will have the freedom to choose between the Sport and Cup chassis, where the latter is tailored for the track day regulars. There are also a number of optional extras that one could opt for from their extensive personalization program like bucket seats, leather interior, touch screen navigation, Bluetooth and a multimedia system.
