The Renault Megane 250 Cup has been causing quite a stir in Malaysia after its official launch two weeks ago. With its good looks to match its electrifying drive and phenomenal speed, the 250 Cup is a natural track beast and a humble daily machine that can easily ferry you and your wife over to the grocery store with enough room for everything the missus could ever think of getting of getting from the store. That leaves very little room for nagging.
While that's already brilliant, the 250 Cup is also able to set astonishing lap times at any circuit given the right driver is behind the wheel. TC Euro, dealer of everything Renault in Malaysia, got former Singaporean A1GP driver Denis Lian to set a time in the 250 Cup at the Sepang International Car in a stock standard car straight out of the showroom. Denis did an amazing 2:43, an astonishing feat given that the same car was then driven back to the showroom for potential customers to test drive.
That speaks volumes of the cars ability. Here's a short 5-min video of Denis speaking about the car and the actual timed lap where Denis set his fastest time. Denis reckons that he could go about half a second to a second quicker if there were cooler track temperatures. We believe him.
